As we all know, the typical business man holds on to his hard earned money very tightly. He's not prepared to release his cash very easily. When someone experimented with take this businessman's hard earned money, I'm sure a serious tussle would follow. So, to be able to distinguish between a great price, and a unworthy website design price, it is in addition crucial to figure out the typical cost of a web site design. There are many equations which will offer How to Create Website in 2020 you the typical cost of website design, but you'll not require any of those silly equations.
One way to find out the typical cost of a web site is to create your custom website design project on bidding sites, such as o Desk and e Lance.
o Desk Provides Custom Website Design
o Desk is one of many largest platforms for independent contractors looking for web and graphic work. If you'd like to learn the typical cost for a good design, simply develop a free account on o Desk, add a verified payment method (you won't be billed) in order that contractors will get you seriously and actually place bids for the project, and finally weigh out your results. It is in addition crucial to add a verified payment method because many o Desk workers have already been scammed in the past by false ads and projects that are abruptly canceled or discontinued. These days, it's problematic for an o Desk worker to trust employers on the o Desk site, which is why many will filter the employers who do not need a verified payment method on file. Adding a payment method takes 1 minute (simply key in the amounts of your card, expiration and CVV code), your billing address and you're all set. A small step such as verifying your payment method allows you to get 10 times more proposals for the project than if you're to create a project without verification.

You will find many offers coming from various elements of the world for the custom website design project. At that time, you'll intelligently manage to decide what the typical cost is for the custom website design project, in addition to other important details such as estimated completion date, cost, hosting and maintenance requirements and more.

Another good source for discovering the typical costs of custom web development is e Lance. Very similar to o Desk, e Lance allows you a better amount of customization and organization for the project. However, exactly like o Desk, it is in addition crucial to post a project in addition to add a verified payment method in order that contractors get you seriously. It'll cost you an additional $5 to verify your payment method, but don't worry. This $5 is automatically refunded back in the proper execution of a credit. So really, you're not paying anything at all for custom website design project bids from contractors all around the world.
I've Been Scammed In The Past By Custom Website Design Companies
If you've been scammed in the past by custom website design companies, I'm really sorry! Designers and design companies often run into scam artists as well, so unfortunately that is one facet of doing business that's inevitable, whether it's offline or online business. However, do not allow your past negative experiences affect your future decisions at deciding who to decide on and where you should choose your custom website design. Always remember that the price of your custom website design will fluctuate because the customization requirements of one's project increase and decrease.
Custom Website Cost Calculator
One of the best tools I've find undoubtedly for determining simply how much a custom website design will surely cost, is Design Quote's Web Design Calculator.

The Cost of Websites
Keep in mind that the expense of websites, unlike the US national debt, is NOT on the rise fortunately. The cost of website remains exactly the same, and actually is on a regular slope of decreasing. 2020.09.23 01:47 Leather_Term Revealed: Bill Clinton’s Intimate Secret Dinner With Ghislaine Maxwell

thedailybeast.com Sep. 22, 2020
The former president invited Ghislaine Maxwell to a cozy dinner in L.A. in 2014, years after she had been accused by a victim of procuring girls for Epstein’s sex ring.
After a star-studded gala in February 2014, Bill Clinton and his entourage headed to a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles for an intimate dinner with friends.
Their destination was Crossroads Kitchen, a Melrose Avenue hotspot that counts Beyoncé, Christina Applegate, and Katy Perry as fans, and features a menu with artichoke “oysters,” hearts of palm “crab cakes” and tagliatelle “bolognese.” That night, the restaurant was bustling. One insider spotted producer Jerry Bruckheimer and actor Bruce Willis, while TMZ recorded actor Sean Penn gliding through the front door.
Producer Steve Bing—Clinton’s friend, major Democratic donor, and investor in the restaurant who died by suicide this year—was already there waiting for the former president.
Former Clinton staffers Ben Schwerin, a future Snapchat executive, and then-talent agent Michael Kives were also invited to the swanky soiree.
But two other unlikely guests joined the party that night: British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell—accused of procuring underage girls for sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein—and tech CEO Scott Borgerson, now rumored to be her husband.
According to information obtained by The Daily Beast, Clinton’s advance team secured seating for the invitees and specifically noted Maxwell and someone named “Scott” had RSVP’d for the Thursday gathering.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation say aides had squabbled over Maxwell’s invitation beforehand due to her links to Epstein. Even to this day, Clinton insiders continue to point fingers over who should be blamed for Maxwell’s addition to the event.
The sources told The Daily Beast that longtime Clinton gatekeeper Doug Band cut Maxwell out of the president’s network in 2011 before he left Clinton’s employ the following year. (Band flew on Epstein’s private jet, including for Clinton’s 2002 humanitarian trip to Africa, and was listed in Epstein’s Little Black Book.)
Information obtained by The Daily Beast indicates Jon Davidson, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, knew Maxwell was attending the 2014 dinner, which he helped to organize. Davidson did not return messages seeking comment.
“This is an intimate dinner with Clinton in L.A.,” said one source who was disturbed by the decision. “Think of all the people he knows in L.A., and Ghislaine gets to attend.”
Schwerin told The Daily Beast he has no recollection or record of being at the dinner, while Kives said he did not attend and has never met Maxwell or noticed her at other Clinton dinners.
Angel Ureña, a spokesman for Clinton, declined to comment and referred The Daily Beast to a statement he issued in 2019:
“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York. In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip. He had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein’s New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail. He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.”
One friend of the Clintons told The Daily Beast that Ghislaine was close to Clinton and daughter Chelsea, went backstage at Clinton Global Initiative events, and even visited their homes. The source said the Clintons should take responsibility for spending time with Maxwell, who allegedly offered the Clintons hotel stays, air travel, and other largesse.
“It’s always someone else’s fault, it’s always not true,” the friend said. “They’re always fighting against the reporting and not that they did it. That’s the problem.”
By the time of the Crossroads dinner, the press had widely reported on Epstein’s abuse of girls at his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, and lawsuits filed by victims of his trafficking scheme.
Claims of Maxwell’s involvement were known to Clinton staffers in 2011, when the Daily Mail reported on survivor Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who said Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was 17. The report included a photograph of the British royal posing with Giuffre at Maxwell’s London home. In the picture, Maxwell smiles in the background as Andrew grips Giuffre’s bare waist.
It’s unclear why Maxwell was reintroduced into Clinton’s circle—at least for one cozy meatless dinner in Los Angeles on Feb. 27, 2014.
The night of the dinner, one person remembered Borgerson in particular because he wasn’t Ted Waitt, Maxwell’s ex-boyfriend and the billionaire Gateway co-founder. Waitt is a friend and supporter of the Clinton family, donating at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation. “She had dated Ted Waitt for some time, so for her to go to a dinner like that, with someone who’s not Ted, was indicative that things moved on,” the source added.
TMZ reported Clinton dined with Penn that night but didn't mention any of the other boldfaced names. The gossip site published video footage of Clinton slipping into the back of the restaurant after a Secret Service motorcade parked, and of Penn striding through the entrance, ignoring a stringer’s questions about meeting Bill.
Hours earlier, the men rubbed elbows at the Unite4:Humanity gala at a Sony Pictures Studios lot, where singer Demi Lovato and other celebrities took selfies with the former president. Clinton, who received a “unity recognition award,” was the keynote speaker.
Clinton flew to New York the next morning, but Maxwell stayed in California. Three days after the group dinner with Clinton, Maxwell attended the Vanity Fair Oscar bash in West Hollywood, where a photographer snapped her with Elon Musk (who, in response to Twitter critics, claimed he was photobombed).
Another source with long ties to Clinton told The Daily Beast they were relieved Page Six or another outlet didn't catch wind of the gathering.
In 2014, Maxwell worked to reinvent herself through her oceans nonprofit, the TerraMar Project, and was photographed at a slew of society parties. She jet-setted to Alaska for the Iditarod, and spoke at a UN roundtable, Google’s Ocean Agenda conference, and a TEDx conference in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Maxwell, now awaiting trial for perjury and grooming girls for Epstein, was friendly with the Clinton clan for years. She had a front-row seat at Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010, reportedly as Waitt’s plus-one, at the Astor Courts estate in Rhinebeck, New York. Maxwell, Chelsea, and husband Marc Mezvinsky “flew together on a private plane to rendezvous with Waitt for a trip on Waitt’s yacht” around that time, Politico reported.
Last year, a spokeswoman for Chelsea told CNN the former first daughter was only acquainted with Maxwell because of Waitt.
Still, Maxwell’s ties to the Clintons run deeper. As The Daily Beast previously revealed, Maxwell and Epstein attended a reception at the White House during Clinton’s presidency. Bill and Hillary Clinton hosted the 1993 event for donors to the White House Historical Association, which funded Oval Office renovations including gold draperies and a new rug.
Maxwell’s dubious charity, the Max Foundation, showed a $2,500 contribution to the “Clinton Library and Foundation” in 2003. And in 2002 and 2003, the socialite traveled with the former president when he took trips on Epstein’s plane throughout Asia and Africa. Maxwell also flew from Miami to Westchester County, New York, with a group that included Epstein, Clinton, Secret Service agents and Sarah Kellen, Epstein’s personal assistant and alleged accomplice.
In 2009, one attorney for Epstein victims hired an investigator to serve Maxwell with a subpoena as she schmoozed at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York. “To say she was upset about being publicly served at this function is an understatement,” attorney Brad Edwards wrote in his book.
Clinton isn't the only high-profile politician under fire over ties to Epstein and Maxwell.
President Donald Trump palled around with Epstein in the '90s and at least until 2002, when he called the hedge-funder a “terrific guy” in an interview with New York.
“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it—Jeffrey enjoys his social life,” Trump told the magazine.
In 1992, Trump held a “calendar girl” competition at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, and Epstein was reportedly the only guest.
The same year, Epstein and Trump were videotaped at what appears to be a different party at Trump’s private club. Found in NBC archives, the footage was for a talk-show profile on Trump’s new life as a divorcee. The men ogle women on the dance floor, and Trump apparently tells Epstein, "Look at her, back there. ... She's hot." Epstein smiles and nods before collapsing into giggles after Trump whispers something in his ear.
Jane Doe, one survivor of Epstein’s sex ring, said the financier introduced her to Trump in 1994, when she was 14 years old. Her lawsuit said Epstein “elbowed Trump playfully” before asking, “This is a good one, right?”
“Trump smiled and nodded in agreement,” Doe’s complaint alleges. “They both chuckled and Doe felt uncomfortable, but, at the time, was too young to understand why.” (Doe does not accuse Trump of any misconduct.)
Epstein and Trump “were good friends,” Epstein’s brother Mark told the Washington Post, adding that Trump flew on Epstein’s plane “numerous times.” The financier’s address book contains multiple entries for Trump and now-First Lady Melania.
The men supposedly had a falling out over real estate in 2004, when Epstein tried to outbid Trump in a bankruptcy auction for the Palm Beach mansion of nursing home magnate Abe Gosman, according to the Post.
Three years later, Page Six reported Epstein was banned from Mar-a-Lago.
Trump also apparently hobnobbed with Maxwell. At a COVID press conference in July, Trump told reporters he met Maxwell “numerous times over the years” but couldn’t answer whether he thought the beleaguered socialite would spill dirt on other famous people accused of partaking in Epstein’s trafficking scheme.
“I don’t know. I haven’t been following it too much,” Trump said. “I just wish her well, frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach. I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is.”

2020.09.22 19:58 Better-Use Good Samaritan who stepped in to stop pervert fumes over suspect’s no-bail release

Good Samaritan who stepped in to stop pervert fumes over suspect’s no-bail release
A good Samaritan is outraged because he risked his life to save a mom and her kids from a violent pervert at Hudson River Park — only to learn the suspect was quickly released without bail.
“It’s basically a lawless free-for-all,” hero Denis Goncharov lamented of New York City, after learning that the suspect will remain free until a December court date.
“Like in the movie ‘Joker,'” he told The Post.
As a dad of two grade-school-age girls himself, Goncharov, 33, says he didn’t think twice about leaping between a terrified family and a deranged man who had walked up to their park bench last week and starting masturbating.
Goncharov chased the creep for more than half a mile through Greenwich Village to help cops catch him — even after the still-exposed man picked up a brick from the ground and ran at his head with it.
“What upsets me is the kids he was exposing himself to were similar age to my daughters,” Goncharov explained of his bravery. “I imagined the kids being harassed were my own.”
It was Sept. 8, a sunny Tuesday afternoon, and Goncharov — who lives in Westchester and works in finance in Manhattan — was eating his lunch on a park bench near Pier 45 off Christopher Street when he saw the man leave the nearby public restroom, pants open.
Police later identified the man as Justin Merritt, 34.
Merritt has a long misdemeanor rap sheet — mostly for criminal possession of stolen property, trespassing and turnstile jumping, but with at least one aggravated harassment arrest thrown in, law enforcement sources said.
Merritt allegedly walked straight over to a mom and her two kids.
“From my recollection, it was a boy and a girl, aged around 7 to 10,” Goncharov recalled.
“They were sitting on the bench and looked very scared. They were similar age to my own kids, who were fortunately back home at this time.”
The man “started to touch himself in a sexual way, and was by this point approximately 6, 7 feet from the scared woman, who was attempting to cover their eyes.”
Goncharov, screaming, jumped up from his own bench about 20 feet away.
“My dad instinct kicked in,” he explained.
“I tried to form a human barrier by jumping in between,” he said. “At this point, he backed off from the family and focused his attention on me.”
As the mother dialed 911, Goncharov and the man squared off.
“He was right up close to me in a very confrontational and menacing way,” Goncharov said. “In self-defense, I was forced to push him away from me,” Goncharov remembered.
“At that point, he — unsuccessfully — tried to spit on me and called me ‘white trash.'”
Merritt then allegedly picked up a brick and lunged, “aiming for my head,” according to Goncharov and prosecutors.
Goncharov ducked, then grabbed a nearby orange traffic cone — more of a shield than a weapon, but it was all he could find, he said.
“Nobody else attempted to intervene,” he said, though he saw “a few people backing away and timidly filming the scene on their iPhones.”
When his adversary took off, pants still open, Goncharov followed, dialing 911 and filming the pervert’s retreat.
“I followed him for six, seven blocks all the way to Slaughtered Lamb pub, and the suspect then disappeared down into the 4th Street subway entrance,” he said.
In a 911 call recording he shared with The Post, Goncharov is heard breathlessly telling an NYPD dispatcher, “He has a brick; he has a weapon … He’s getting away from the scene. He exposed his penis to children — this man is a pedophile. He’s a sex offender.”
Police caught up to Merritt at 8 p.m., and after a night in jail, he was charged with lewdness, harassment, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon — the brick.
All four are non-violent misdemeanors. Under bail reforms signed by the governor, and in effect since January, none of the charges are eligible for bail.
At Merritt’s arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court the next day, he was assigned a lawyer from the New York County Defender Services and a judge had no choice but to release him on his own recognizance. Even in 2019, most judges would similarly release most misdemeanor defendants, said Sergio De La Pava, the New York County Defender Services legal director.
“Though also as a general principle, the more contact you have had with the criminal justice system, the higher chance that bail would be set,” De La Pava said.
If Merritt re-offends between now and his next court date, which is Dec. 8, “potentially he could be put back in” by a judge, he added.
“A lunatic like this is able to re-offend again and again and without consequences,” Goncharov complained.
“I felt sorry for the hardworking NYPD officers who often feel so powerless,” he added. “The law is completely letting down innocent, law-abiding citizens. Shootings, burglaries and violent crime are off the charts — and is it any wonder?”

2020.09.22 17:09 MotionLawImmigration "Public Charge Rule" Goes into Effect Again Motion Law Immigration

The “Public Charge Rule” during the pandemic
Broadly speaking and to give an overview, the “Public Charge Rule” states that immigration officers of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have the power and right to reject requests if the applicant could become an unnecessary burden on the country.
With this, we mean that immigrants must meet certain requirements so that they are not a burden to the local economic system.
This rule works for immigrants who plan to enter the US for the first time, as well as for those who already reside in the country, but need to adjust their immigration status or request any other legal permit.
There are some exceptions to the rule such as asylum seekers, refugees, victims of crime or human trafficking, inter alia.
The latest version of this rule was implemented in February, 2020, by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). However, the public charge rule was suspended by a New York court in late July due to the threat posed by the global Coronavirus pandemic.
The judge declared that many immigrants avoid using medical services during the health crisis because their immigration applications could be rejected by the USCIS. This posed an imminent threat to the US, primarily because immigrants could become carriers of the virus if they do not use medical services or could put their lives at risk for fear of deportation.
Therefore, immigrants who have used any medical benefits during the massive outbreak of Coronavirus in the North American territory since the end of July will not have a “Public Charge”impact when submitting an immigration application.

Court gives green light to the resumption of the “Public Charge Rule”

On September 11, 2020, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals lifted the suspension of the “Public Charge Rule” and declared that the USCIS can re-implement it for immigration services nationwide.
It means that, as of that date, the components of the rule are in effect again across the US and any immigration application will be evaluated taking this rule into account.
It is important to clarify that the US continues to be the main epicenter of the global pandemic and that is the reason why dozens of activists raised their voices against the decision of the Second Circuit.
However, despite the court’s decision, the USCIS has yet to announce how the rule will be implemented going forward and its official website has not been updated.

Do you need to submit an immigration application?

In light of sudden changes implemented in the immigration sector during the current health crisis, the best recommendation is to have the constant accompaniment of experts, who are up to date with immigration policies.
In this way, you ensure that you are choosing the right process and that you are organizing the required documentation correctly.

2020.09.21 18:38 burninginfinite I am 31 years old, make $117,000, live in Northern VA (DC suburbs) and work as a Management Consultant

Content Warning: Dieting (intermittent fasting)

Section One: Assets and Debt

Section Two: Income

Section Three: Expenses

Day 1 (Sunday)

9:30 am : SO and Dog are still asleep, so I read in bed until SO wakes up. We have sex (Dog is not pleased) and then he gets up to work out while I keep reading. He basically bought a home gym when COVID started and at first he thought it might be a waste of money, but it’s actually proven to be a good purchase.
11:55 am: I’ve been intermittent fasting a bit to balance out my WFH snacking habits. I try not to eat before noon, but I’m starving, so I eat a small snack a few minutes early. Water our balcony plants, refill the bird feeder, then shower and perform my skin ritual. I scale this up or down depending on my plans for the day, but I have time and I was lazy last night, so I do all of it. I just added bakuchiol and I’m excited to see how it works. (Double cleanse with Hanskin Pore Cleansing Oil and CeraVe Facial Cleanser, then: Trader Joe’s Rose Water Toner, Amara Vitamin C Serum, TJ’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Handmade Heroes Bakuchiol Booster, TJ’s Eye Cream, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream, and La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid.)
1:00 pm: We have a Very Lazy Dog who never wants to take walks, but we drag him out before driving to meet a friend for a 1:30 brunch reservation. When we arrive, they’re behind and seem to have no idea when our patio table will be ready. My friend K brought her dog (yay!) but that means we can’t sit inside, so we have to wait. She’s a little shy and anxious (the dog, not K) but I brought her some treats, which she eats without hesitation.
1:55 pm: Finally seated! K’s pup keeps getting tangled under the table begging for more treats. K and I have drinks (SO doesn’t drink on Sundays so he has a soda) and we split some brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Avocado toast for K, a burger for SO, and avocado eggs benedict and two sweet potato pancakes for me (SO eats the potatoes that come with my benedict). We split the check, but SO takes mine before I have a chance to see it. He and I try to keep things relatively even, but we mostly just trust it’ll wash out in the end. He likes to pay when we go out but I usually buy the groceries. (We’re more disciplined about splitting big purchases.)
4:00 pm: Pit stop on the way home for SO to pick up more vape pods. He’s been planning to quit for a while, but his work has been super stressful lately and he keeps pushing his quit date back. I try not to get too annoyed about this – I know he’s trying and quitting sucks.
7:30 pm: I wake up from an ill-advised nap. We finish last night’s leftover sushi for dinner and watch the first Harry Potter movie. My friend Venmos me $163.71 to pay me back for a group purchase I placed a couple weeks ago and I immediately transfer it to my bank account.
10:00 pm: SO likes to be in bed by 9:30 and asleep by 10 because he gets up so early to work out, but I usually stay up later reading. Tonight, I actually have to catch up on some work that’s due first thing in the morning. Working in bed while SO and Dog snore next to me weirdly helps me focus (because I want to join them!).
3:45 am : That took longer than I thought it would! As I’m shutting down, I randomly remember a few things I need from Amazon. I’ve been trying to shop more responsibly, which means not using Amazon Prime. But a week ago I needed some stuff quickly and they offered me a monthlong free trial, so now I’m on an Amazon kick. I’ll cancel before the trial ends and then I won’t re-up for probably a year or so. I buy some mask brackets to try while working out, broom and mop grips for the utility closet door, some washcloths, and the next size up of a sweater I ordered and liked but was too small (I’ll return the other one this week). It takes a while to fall asleep (shouldn’t have napped earlier!). ($82.62)
Total: $82.62

Day 2 (Monday)

7:45 am : I wake up to the sound of SO ironing his shirt for work. He says he overslept (guess he missed his workout) and rushes out the door. I kiss him goodbye, get dressed, drink a glass of water, and log on to my computer. I check last night’s document one last time and email it to the client.
10:30 am: I take a break from work to pay my credit card bills, which are all due around the same time. ($1,100) I use a modified avalanche method – I make minimum payments rounded up to the next hundred, then I pay proportionally more toward higher interest balances. I know it’s not as cost effective but seeing significant progress toward all my balances is reassuring. I’ll make a second payment at the end of the month on my highest interest cards with however much money I have left over. Scrolling through Facebook, I see that the animal rescue where I got Dog is doing a fundraiser for vet bills for a sweet pup who needed emergency surgery. It makes me sad – I go snuggle Dog for a minute (who is still snoring in bed and is not happy about the forced snuggle time) and then make a donation. ($107.20)
12:30 pm: Made it to noon (and beyond) without eating! I was really hungry around 11:45 but then I got distracted, so here we are at 12:30. I microwave some leftover pork shoulder that I roasted last week and eat it with honey mustard. I have so much admiration for people who actually make meals for lunch. I mostly just cobble together whatever I have.
2:00 pm: While filling out this MD, I realize I can’t remember if I’ve paid the property tax on my car yet. I panic briefly because I can’t find the letter they sent, but then I remember I can look it up on the website and… I have not. Today is turning out to be expensive! ($110.22)
4:45 pm: Our engagement photoshoot is in a month and I’m starting to stress about what to wear. The COVID weight gain is so real (and I haven’t been working out like I used to). I buy an oversized sweater I’ve had my eye on that will hopefully be cute with skinny jeans (if any of them still fit me) and vow to return it if it’s not perfect. ($33.91) Then I walk the dog, who is just now getting out of bed and asking for attention.
6:45 pm: SO gets home! On Mondays I take a late workout class, so I get to see him before I leave. I toast an everything bagel and eat it with cream cheese while we chat about our days.
8:00 pm: Class! I asked one of the women in my class to make me two masks, which she brings me tonight, so I Venmo her $20.
9:45 pm: Get home from class completely wiped and am grateful to find that SO walked Dog before I got home so I can basically go straight to bed. (Dog never wants to go outside but he has yet to learn to use a litter box, so…) He’s asleep before I finish washing my face and I’m not far behind – out like a light by 10:30.
Total: $1,371.33, but at least most of it was bills.

Day 3 (Tuesday)

7:45 am : After hitting snooze once, I hop in the shower to wake up. Dog watches me do my skin routine from the bed, looking very annoyed that I’m up. SO texts me to walk the dog early because it feels like fall today, so I drag him outside after I’m finished with daily standup. This involves bringing the leash up two flights of stairs to leash him in bed before coaxing him down the stairs and out the door.
10:00 am: Our client has been migrating their document repository to a new system and there is evidently some confusion over who is supporting which migration effort. Everyone is calling all of the projects “System Migration,” so this honestly seemed inevitable. I spend a good chunk of my morning sorting this out so I can tell them confidently that we are not involved with the one they’re asking about. When I’m intermittent fasting, I routinely get hungry at 10am but I drink a glass of water and try to power through.
12:30 pm: Lunch! I heat up the rest of the pork and steam some veggies in the microwave. One of the most annoying things about SO is that he’s always craving delivery of some sort, even if I’ve planned a meal, so fresh produce often goes to waste in our house. I haven’t totally given up yet, but thank god for frozen veggies.
1:00 pm: I feel like this is going to sound like a ridiculous purchase, but here goes: SO’s favorite pen company is dropping a batch of limited release pens at 1pm (noon CT). I set an alarm and am refreshing the website repeatedly by 12:59 because SO has been coveting these pens for ages and last time they sold out in about 10 minutes. I have to start over when someone buys the pen I picked as I am checking out, but I manage to snag two– one as an anniversary gift for SO and one as a Christmas gift for my dad (anyone who knows me will tell you I really do start my Christmas shopping early – gifts and acts of service are my two big love languages). A few minutes later, the pens are all gone. ($403.86)
2:00 pm: We trained Dog not to rush the door when he hears the doorbell by giving him treats and now he RUNS to the treats whenever the doorbell rings, which it just did. I toss him a couple treats before retrieving the packages at our door. The sweater I ordered on Sunday is among them and although it fits better, I realize it’s too sheer, so I pack it up with the rest of my returns.
5:15 pm: I resolved to start Chloe Ting’s 2 week shred program today, but the 13 minute HIIT session leaves me totally wiped and feeling very out of shape. (Dog didn’t help – he was VERY in the way every time I got down for anything plank adjacent.) I skip the ab video and leave a little early to drop off my return at the UPS store before class.
8:00 pm: Out for drinks with two friends from class. It’s late to be eating but I also don’t want to drink on an empty stomach, so I order a wrap and take home the half I don’t eat. The fall cider I’m drinking is delicious. I order two crowlers (canned draft beer… well, cider) to take home. ($57.96)
Total: $461.82

Day 4 (Wednesday)

7:30 am: SO wakes up on the wrong side of the bed because he overslept again. I help him get out the door, walk the dog, then get on standup (I’ll shower after). I feel like I didn’t sleep well last night and my Whoop recovery score reflects this – only 31%.
11:00 am: My company closed one of its offices a while back when one of our big contracts ended, and they’re trying to get rid of all the furniture, which has been in storage ever since. I’ve been working at SO’s old kitchen table and a kitchen chair since we moved in May, so I drive the 30 minutes to the office to see what they have. It’s also really nice to see a bunch of my coworkers in person who I haven’t seen since COVID started or even before that. I wind up with an office chair, a mat to go under it, a whiteboard, and some assorted office supplies. The smallest desks they had were still too big for my home office (which is also our guest bedroom). Guess I still need to buy a desk after all. It’s 1:30 by the time I leave, so I stop by Panera for lunch on my way home: you-pick-two with half a chicken salad sandwich and a small broccoli cheddar mac and cheese. I also buy a lemon cookie for me and two chocolate chippers for SO (his favorite). $17.23
5:30 pm: SO texts that he’ll be home a little early! Dog will be thrilled (and me too, of course). I waffle about doing Chloe Ting Day 2 because I am extremely sore from class Monday and Tuesday, but I do the HIIT video and SO arrives home just in time to save me from doing the abs videos.
7:00 pm: I bake some chicken thighs brushed with TJ’s Honey Pale Ale Mustard and garlic and steam some veggies for dinner. SO doesn’t really like chicken, but he says this is good and has three pieces. Victory! I file this recipe away in my head. (I like to say he’s the pickiest adventurous eater in the world. He doesn’t like pasta/noodles, cheese, or chicken, but he loves the stuff that lots of picky eaters won’t eat: seafood, especially sushi, and all kinds of international cuisine. It’s nice having a partner who is always up for sushi night, but cheese boards and family style sides of mac and cheese are a challenge. I really hope our kids don’t decide to emulate his eating habits.) We walk the dog after dinner.
9:30 pm: Because my recovery last night was so bad, I resolve to go to bed at the same time as SO tonight… but he’s still asleep by the time I finish my evening skincare routine. In bed by 10.
Total: $17.23

Day 5 (Thursday)

7:45 am: I hit the snooze once because our neighbors woke us up around 1:30 blasting music and I didn’t fall back asleep for almost an hour. Still, I feel fairly well rested and my Whoop recovery is 83% (yay!). Do my morning skincare, drink some water, get online for daily standup, and I’m greeted with the news that my return has processed, putting $140.57 back on my card. (I’ll count this as a $25.43 credit for this week since one item I returned was the sweater I bought Sunday – the rest was from earlier purchases.)
10:00 am: It’s a light morning, so between emails, I spend some time bringing my new office furniture upstairs and organizing my desk area, then browse Ikea for a new desk. A new desk would also be motivation to finally unpack the last of the boxes, which all live in my office (the other rooms of the house are pretty much unpacked).
12:00 pm: Lunch! The half wrap from Tuesday night is a little soggy but still good. I eat that and then wander down to the garage to scrounge up the second half of my lunch from our deep freezer. Half of the freezer is my lunch stash – things I love but SO won’t eat. Pierogies sound delicious but I don’t have the patience to cook them right now. Instead I grab a box of TJ’s butter chicken and pop it in the microwave; I’ll mix in last night’s leftover veggies. While I wait for that to heat up, I mix some yogurt with salt and set it in a strainer to make labneh, then grab a resistance band and do some lateral band walks across the living room – my knee has been acting up lately mostly because I have weak, lazy glutes. The smell of food finally gets Dog out of bed, so I eat at my computer and then take him for a walk.
2:30 pm: My 2pm meeting ended very early and I have packages! My Soko Glam order from last week is here with some sheet masks, a new serum, and a pore control mask (my mascne has been horrible since I’ve been wearing a mask to work out lately). The sweater I ordered Monday also arrives. I try it on and like it, but I can’t decide if it’s too baggy. I snap a selfie to send to some friends for second and third opinions about whether I need to size down.
5:00 pm: I enter one of those “win a wedding dress” sweepstakes. I normally never enter these, but since I’ve been wedding planning I’ve been entering them like crazy. I know the chances of winning are so slim, but still. I briefly consider a Chloe Ting workout (I really should) but since I have class soon, I skip it.
8:00 pm: Done with class! I’ve been on a hunt for the best masks to wear while working out (that don’t make me feel like I can’t breathe). The studio owner makes the best ones I’ve found yet. I buy 3 for $40 from him. I pick up Chipotle (SO ordered ahead) and stop for gas on the way home. ($23.50) We eat while watching Space Force (a burrito for him, a burrito bowl for me, half of which becomes my lunch for tomorrow). Steve Carell’s character is just a different version of Michael Scott, but it’s mindlessly entertaining. Dog has to be dragged outside for a walk because it’s raining.
9:30 pm: I shower and do the Acsen pore control mask that arrived today. It’s a little tingly and smells really nice. Finish up my skincare and sleep nice and early again – I’m out by 10:30.
Total: Net $38.07 ($63.50 with a $25.43 credit)

Day 6 (Friday)

7:00 am: I wake up early today. SO is out the door before 7:30 and Friday standups aren’t until 9, so I squeeze in the HIIT video, then join an 8am stretching class my friend teaches on Zoom (this is “paid” for by my staff membership at the studio).
11:45 am: It was a very productive morning and now I’m ravenous. I start scrounging up lunch so I can eat right at noon before another meeting marathon begins at 12:30 which will last until 5. Leftover Chipotle and pita bread with labneh with olive oil and za’atar.
4:45 pm: Finally done (a little bit early)! I have a small bowl of ice cream as a Friday reward and watch a little Netflix. SO said he was going to try to leave an hour early from work today, but my money is on him leaving like 5 minutes early.
5:50 pm: I take Dog for a walk (he has literally been sleeping all day and hasn’t made so much as a peep). SO texts that he’s going to be late because of some last second drama at work. Sigh. Well, I guess now I have no excuse not to do some Chloe Ting. I do an ab video and a lower body video.
7:30 pm: SO gets home and immediately announces he’s going to work out, but sprawls on the bed with Dog for a while before getting a move on. I’m a little annoyed because I was looking forward to having dinner and spending some time with him, but his workouts usually take about 1.5 hours, so that would put dinner at probably close to 10pm (way too late for me, even if I wasn’t intermittent fasting – I don’t know how he eats a full meal and then goes straight to bed). Honestly, lately I feel like we aren’t spending much quality time together (scrolling on our phones next to each other doesn’t count) and every time I suggest an activity, he just wants to watch TV instead. I also get the news about RBG passing away and now I’m just extra sad. I watch a movie in bed and am half asleep by the time SO finishes his workout and comes upstairs.
Total: $0

Day 7 (Saturday)

8:45 am: Alarm goes off. I take 2 classes on Saturday mornings, so I roll out of bed and start getting ready, but SO derails me wanting to talk about last night, and we have it out. I struggle to explain that it’s not that I don’t want him to work out or that I don’t support his goals – it’s just that I would like him to prioritize me and our relationship at least as much as he does his workouts. We end at a bit of an impasse (with me crying, because I cry at everything) and instead of going to class, I take a drive to calm down. Driving up and down the GW Parkway with the windows down always makes me feel better.
11:30 am: I buy SO Starbucks as a peace offering and head home. ($6.05) When I get there, SO apologizes and promises to make more of an effort to do things with me that aren’t just laying on the couch watching TV. He suggests that we go out for a late lunch/early dinner and do a little day drinking, and that we can have a zoo outing tomorrow (plus he’ll work out while I hit the studio for class).
2:00 pm: After our respective workouts, we both shower and then walk the dog together. Then we go to the restaurant across the street, walking to take advantage of the good weather (and so we can both drink). We sit outside and split calamari and a dozen oysters. I have a steak salad with peaches and gorgonzola, and SO orders crab cakes. We each have two drinks and I take dessert to go (SO does not share my sweet tooth!). The check is around $170 (pre-tip); SO pays and we walk home.
7:00 pm: We watch a movie on the couch and keep drinking. I’m excited to crack open the cider I brought home the other day. After the movie, we take Dog out for a quick walk and then head to bed. Before going to sleep, I make a $107 donation in honor of RBG to be split between several Senate campaigns.
Total: $113.05

Weekly Total: $2084.12

Food & Drink: $81.24
Fun & Entertainment: $0
Home & Health: $117.19 (I’m counting masks here)
Clothes & Beauty: $33.91 (Net – $25.43 bought and returned)
Transport: $23.50
Other: $1,828.28

Weekly Reflection

All in all, I feel like I did ok this week. I spent more money this week than I expected – that being said, looking at how much of this week’s spending was in bills and donations, I’m not too upset about it. The pens were an unexpected and big expense, but I was going to have to buy those gifts eventually, so again, not too upset about it. (The cost is probably in line with what I’d normally spend on an anniversary gift for SO. The pen for my dad was a little more expensive than what I’d normally buy for him, but I know it will be a special gift.) Going out has also been an uncommon occurrence lately, but it felt good to be social again, and I would much rather spend money on going out and spending time with people than spend excessively on stuff.
I’m definitely a spender, which (as you can see) has gotten me in trouble in the past. I’ve been doing better lately and I’m also very good about returning things that don’t work out, especially now that COVID has increased my proportion of online shopping vs. in person. This week was also a little unusual because we didn’t buy groceries and SO picked up the bill every time we went out. (For reference, we went grocery shopping on Day 8, which I paid for. That came out to about $200 between Costco and the supermarket and will last us about two weeks – we buy in bulk when it makes sense and freeze what we won’t use immediately. That bill is on the low side because we just restocked the freezer within the last month.)
I guess one thing I’ve thought about a lot while doing this MD has been how SO and I split expenses. I personally think it’s pretty fair – he might spend a little more than I do in the end, but he is also the one who always wants to order delivery, so I don’t feel too badly about that. I realize this week wasn’t a great snapshot for demonstrating an even split, but I’m curious to know how it came off to you all as readers and your thoughts on splitting expenses with an SO without having to split every bill right down the middle and Venmoing each other all the time (there’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but it’s not how we work).

2020.09.21 11:46 viceroy_merkel Things seem to go wrong, too many times.

I am a 21 year old male from the UK who has recently graduated from University, although I did the majority of my final semester, including writing my dissertation, back in my rural home county. Academically, I did quite well, graduating with first class honours, but I am at this moment pretty directionless and feel like I've not made the most of my opportunities.
My first year at university was made difficult after the unexpected death of my stepdad via alcohol poisoning. Two weeks prior to this my mum had told me she had left him as she didn't love him anymore. All of this happened whilst I was away studying in a city in the south, and after I returned there after the funeral I shut my family out including my mother, as at the time I blamed her for his death, which I viewed as a suicide due to being heartbroken.
So I stayed down at my Uni-town for the majority of my degree, including over Christmases and through the summers. Mentally, I was not doing well, the disruption in first year meant that I failed to make many friends, and I developed a pretty bad binge-drinking problem which would create a lot of disruption for me, i.e. losing my phone, wallet, cards, and more embarrassingly stumbling around the house and quite often barging into someone else bedroom accidentally in the middle of the night and scaring them. Another thing I neglected to do was apply for summer internships and work experience opportunities, which in the UK are usually only open to students in their first or penultimate year at university, which will become more relevant later.
It wasn't until the second semester of second year that things got better for me. I started dating my current boyfriend, who is from Poland, and who is quite different from myself. He is very used to personal, emotional, and financial support from his parents, and consequently has a very good self-esteem as well as a great academic and professional record. For example, in the summer after I met him, he partook in an internship at the UN in New York for the Polish delegation, something I would never be able to consider due to it being unpaid, meaning he relied on his parents to support him.
Although I would say we are very much in love I would say the our essences are completely distinct and this is based off our upbringings and experiences. He is very much an optimist, and believes anyone can do anything if they put there mind to it. I myself am probably the biggest pessimist and this is where we clash. Sometimes I remind him that not everyone is afforded the same resources at his disposal, although it can get a bit personal as I am inferring people like myself, and I suppose I am jealous of him in a way.
Anyways, despite us being different I can say he did change my outlook for the better. Seeing him do all of his impressive extracurricular activities made me conscious of my lack of professional experiences, but by this time it was the start of my final year and it felt like it was a race to get something before graduation. It didn't help that my boyfriend is very keen on one day working for some sort of international organisation (EU or the UN), and I worried about how I could figure in around this and also find a job wherever he might end up.
I applied for lots of different things in my final year, (graduate schemes and jobs, summer internships) and at first I could handle setbacks and rejections, as I truly felt that I was learning something even by just applying. Eventually, I started getting acceptances, and I was happy to find out I had gotten a place working as a summer intern for the Ministry of Justice. I also started the process of getting help with my depression by going to my University's health service. I suffer with insomnia also and was given amitriptyline but in a very low dose so not as antidepressant medication but just to help falling to sleep easier.
As you will all know, in March COVID restrictions started coming in, and my boyfriend got a last minute flight to Poland, and I eventually went back to my home county, but this time I lived with my Dad. I don't have a close relationship at all with my Dad, I had not lived with him since the age of 4, and we don't have a lot in common least of all me being gay and him being the biggest womaniser ever. As I still had my dissertation to write, and I was used to working sporadically through the night, I set up my PC in his RV outside to minimise noise, and I slept in it also too eventually. I also found that the amitriptyline wasn't working as well so when I ran out didn't bother contacting the doctor's as I would be unable to make an appointment anyway, and for the most part was more concerned with writing my dissertation anyway.
So in June, a week before I was due to start work, I was informed that the internship would be cancelled, which was disappointing to say the least as in the back of my mind I was still concerned with my lack of professional experience. The next set-back came when I was approached by a recruiter for a Bank who found my CV online and invited my to apply for this temporary 3 month position. This would have worked out quite well as I had also applied for this scholarship to study a masters at the University of Warsaw financed by the Polish government, due to start in October. I did the video interview and the day after the offered me the job after which followed a 2 week period of acquiring all the necessary documentation, and background checks, very similar to what I had to do with the Ministry of Justice. After I had did all this, I received a call from the recruiter who explained that due to 'company restructuring' they had to postpone my starting for an unspecified period of time.
About a week after this, around August 24, I found out that I had received the scholarship off the Polish government to do the Masters and I was ecstatic, although now not having a job created the stress of having to come up with the money needed to move countries. The legal fees to get my diploma legalised and sent over to Poland in time amount to just under £400 and to pay for it I sold my gaming PC, which I was willing to do as it felt like getting this scholarship would single handedly solve all my problems: of not being able to find a job in the post-COVID economy, of the difficult situation of living with my distant father, of being so far away from my boyfriend.
However, on Friday I got an email from the University in Poland to say that due to an insufficient number of students my course would not be going ahead, this was two days before I needed to show the Polish scholarship agency my enrolment letter to secure my scholarship. This really destroyed me. Throughout all of these set backs I have tried my best to stay positive, but it got progressively harder with each opportunity. A lot of them demonstrated how people will be prepared to be nice and lead you on, like the recruiter who contacted me, or the admissions at the University in Poland, but will be prepared to drop you at a moments notice when it is no longer convenient for them.
I just feel like I spent so much time trying to condition myself out of my pessimistic world view but every time I find myself proven right. The past 6 months have really built up my hopes before tearing them down to even lower than they were before. I've started the binge-drinking again, and the other day I must have alluded to suicidal thoughts whilst video calling my boyfriend, though I don't recall it, as he took it upon himself to add my mother and Facebook and message her about it. I feel like I'm having a breakdown but unsure with how to respond. I am also no registered to a doctor's office in my county, due to being registered with the University Health Service thought I imagine since I've graduated I'm off the books.

2020.09.21 10:00 autotldr FinCEN Files: Deutsche Bank tops list of suspicious transactions

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 86%. (I'm a bot)
The leaked FinCEN files suggest the bank was aware of facilitating suspicious transactions amounting to over $1 trillion dollars, including for a period after it had promised to clean up its act.
Of these, $1.3 trillion worth of transactions passed through Deutsche Bank, which reported the activities to FinCEN. Deutsche Bank previously fined hundreds of millions.
Upon receiving a catalogue of detailed questions from ICIJ, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank said the information contained in the files is "Not new information to us or our regulators" and that these issues date back to the years prior to 2016, adding that Deutsche Bank is "a different bank now."
The FinCEN Files reveal that Deutsche Bank also conducted transactions for an oil refinery in Turkmenistan, despite it being in possible violation of Iranian sanctions.
While Deutsche Bank TCA moved money for Turkmenbashi Oil, BNY Mellon, another bank that offers correspondence banking services in New York, refused to process transactions for the company around the same time.
ICIJ's analysis of the FinCEN Files indicates that Deutsche Bank also shuffled more than $11 billion in transactions between 2003 and 2017 for companies tied to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire and a longtime ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin - despite being fully aware of ongoing investigations.

2020.09.21 02:47 Leather_Term Meet Brock Pierce, the Presidential Candidate With Ties to Pedophiles Who Wants to End Human Trafficking

thedailybeast.com Sep. 20, 2020.
The “Mighty Ducks” actor is running for president. He clears the air (sort of) to Tarpley Hitt about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and more.
In the trailer for First Kid, the forgettable 1996 comedy about a Secret Service agent assigned to protect the president’s son, the title character, played by a teenage Brock Pierce, describes himself as “definitely the most powerful kid in the universe.” Now, the former child star is running to be the most powerful man in the world, as an Independent candidate for President of the United States.
Before First Kid, the Minnesota-born actor secured roles in a series of PG-rated comedies, playing a young Emilio Estevez in The Mighty Ducks, before graduating to smaller parts in movies like Problem Child 3: Junior in Love. When his screen time shrunk, Pierce retired from acting for a real executive role: co-founding the video production start-up Digital Entertainment Network (DEN) alongside businessman Marc Collins-Rector. At age 17, Pierce served as its vice president, taking in a base salary of $250,000.
DEN became “the poster child for dot-com excesses,” raising more than $60 million in seed investments and plotting a $75 million IPO. But it turned into a shorthand for something else when, in October of 1999, the three co-founders suddenly resigned. That month, a New Jersey man filed a lawsuit alleging Collins-Rector had molested him for three years beginning when he was 13 years old. The following summer, three teens filed a sexual-abuse lawsuit against Pierce, Collins-Rector, and their third co-founder, Chad Shackley. The plaintiffs later dropped their case against Pierce (he made a payment of $21,600 to one of their lawyers) and Shackley. But after a federal grand jury indicted Collins-Rector on criminal charges in 2000, the DEN founders left the country. When Interpol arrested them in 2002, they said they had confiscated “guns, machetes, and child pornography” from the trio’s beach villa in Spain.
While abroad, Pierce had pivoted to a new venture: Internet Gaming Entertainment, which sold virtual accessories in multiplayer online role-playing games to those desperate to pay, as one Wired reporter put it, “as much as $1,800 for an eight-piece suit of Skyshatter chain mail” rather than earn it in the games themselves. In 2005, a 25-year-old Pierce hired then-Goldman Sachs banker Steve Bannon—just before he would co-found Breitbart News. Two years later, after a World of Warcraft player sued the company for “diminishing” the fun of the game, Steve Bannon replaced Pierce as CEO.
Collins-Rector eventually pleaded guilty to eight charges of child enticement and registered as a sex offender. In the years that followed, Pierce waded into the gonzo economy of cryptocurrencies, where he overlapped more than once with Jeffrey Epstein, and counseled him on crypto. In that world, he founded Tether, a cryptocurrency that bills itself as a “stablecoin,” because its value is allegedly tied to the U.S. dollar, and the blockchain software company Block.one. Like his earlier businesses, Pierce’s crypto projects see-sawed between massive investments and curious deals. When Block.one announced a smart contract software called EOS.IO, the company raised $4 billion almost overnight, setting an all-time record before the product even launched. The Securities and Exchange Commission later fined the company $24 million for violating federal securities law. After John Oliver mocked the ordeal, calling Pierce a “sleepy, creepy cowboy,” Block.one fired him. Tether, meanwhile, is currently under investigation by the New York Attorney General for possible fraud.
On July 4, Pierce announced his candidacy for president. His campaign surrogates include a former Cambridge Analytica director and the singer Akon, who recently doubled down on developing an anonymously funded, $6 billion “Wakanda-like” metropolis in Senegal called Akon City. Pierce claims to be bipartisan, and from the 11 paragraphs on the “Policy” section of his website it can be hard to determine where he falls on the political spectrum. He supports legalizing marijuana and abolishing private prisons, but avoids the phrase “climate change.” He wants to end “human trafficking.” His proposal to end police brutality: body cams.
His political contributions tell a more one-sided story. Pierce’s sole Democratic contribution went to the short-lived congressional run of crypto candidate Brian Forde. The rest went to Republican campaigns like Marco Rubio, Rick Perry, John McCain, and the National Right to Life Political Action Committee. Last year alone, Pierce gave over $44,000 to the Republican National Committee and more than $55,000 to Trump’s re-election fund.
Pierce spoke to The Daily Beast from his tour bus and again over email. Those conversations have been combined and edited for clarity.
You’re announcing your presidential candidacy somewhat late, and historically, third-party candidates haven’t had the best luck with the executive office. If you don’t have a strong path to the White House, what do you want out of the race?
I announced on July 4, which I think is quite an auspicious date for an Independent candidate, hoping to bring independence to this country. There’s a lot of things that I can do. One is: I’m 39 years old. I turn 40 in November. So I’ve got time on my side. Whatever happens in this election cycle, I’m laying the groundwork for the future. The overall mission is to create a third major party—not another third party—a third major party in this country. I think that is what America needs most. George Washington in his closing address warned us about the threat of political parties. John Adams and the other founding fathers—their fear for our future was two political parties becoming dominant. And look at where we are. We were warned.
I believe, having studied systems, any time you have a system of two, what happens is those two things come together, like magnets. They come into collision, or they become polarized and become completely divided. I think we need to rise above partisan politics and find a path forward together. As Albert Einstein is quoted—I’m not sure the line came from him, but he’s quoted in many places—he said that the definition of insanity is making the same mistake or doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different result. [Ed. note: Einstein never said this.] It feels like that’s what our election cycle is like. Half the country feels like they won, half the country feels like they lost, at least if they voted or participated.
Obviously, there’s another late-comer to the presidential race, and that’s Kanye West. He’s received a lot of flak for his candidacy, as he’s openly admitted to trying to siphon votes away from Joe Biden to ensure a Trump victory. Is that something you’re hoping to avoid or is that what you’re going for as well?
Oh no. This is a very serious campaign. Our campaign is very serious. You’ll notice I don’t say anything negative about either of the two major political candidates, because I think that’s one of the problems with our political system, instead of people getting on stage, talking about their visionary ideas, inspiring people, informing and educating, talking about problems, mentioning problems, talking about solutions, constructive criticism. That’s why I refuse to run a negative campaign. I am definitely not a spoiler. I’m into data, right? I’m a technologist. I’ve got digital DNA. So does most of our campaign team. We’ve got our finger on the pulse.
Most of my major Democratic contacts are really happy to see that we’re running in a red state like Wyoming. Kanye West’s home state is Wyoming. He’s not on the ballot in Wyoming I could say, in part, because he didn’t have Akon on his team. But I could also say that he probably didn’t want to be on the ballot in Wyoming because it’s a red state. He doesn’t want to take additional points in a state where he’s only running against Trump. But we’re on the ballot in Wyoming, and since we’re on the ballot in Wyoming I think it’s safe—more than safe, I think it’s evident—that we are not here to run as a spoiler for the benefit of Donald Trump.
In running for president, you’ve opened yourself up to be scrutinized from every angle going back to the beginning of your career. I wanted to ask you about your time at the Digital Entertainment Network. Can you tell me a little bit about how you started there? You became a vice president as a teenager. What were your qualifications and what was your job exactly?
Well, I was the co-founder. A lot of it was my idea. I had an idea that people would use the internet to watch videos, and we create content for the internet. The idea was basically YouTube and Hulu and Netflix. Anyone that was around in the ‘90s and has been around digital media since then, they all credit us as the creators of basically those ideas. I was just getting a message from the creator of The Vandals, the punk rock band, right before you called. He’s like, “Brock, looks like we’re going to get the Guinness Book of World Records for having created the first streaming television show.”
We did a lot of that stuff. We had 30 television shows. We had the top most prestigious institutions in the world as investors. The biggest names. High-net-worth investors like Terry Semel, who’s chairman and CEO of Warner Brothers, and became the CEO of Yahoo. I did all sorts of things. I helped sell $150,000 worth of advertising contracts to the CEOs of Pepsi and everything else. I was the face of the company, meeting all the major banks and everything else, selling the vision of what the future was.
You moved in with Marc Collins-Rector and Chad Shackley at a mansion in Encino. Was that the headquarters of the business?
All start-ups, they normally start out in your home. Because it’s just you. The company was first started out of Marc’s house, and it was probably there for the first two or three months, before the company got an office. That’s, like, how it is for all start-ups.
were later a co-defendant in the L.A. County case filed against Marc Collins-Rector for plying minors with alcohol and drugs, in order to facilitate sexual abuse. You were dropped from the case, but you settled with one of the men for $21,600. Can you explain that?
Okay, well, first of all, that’s not accurate. Two of the plaintiffs in that case asked me if I would be a plaintiff. Because I refused to be a part of the lawsuit, they chose to include me to discredit me, to make their case stronger. They also went and offered 50 percent of what they got to the house management—they went around and offered money to anyone to participate in this. They needed people to corroborate their story. Eventually, because I refused to participate in the lawsuit, they named me. Subsequently, all three of the plaintiffs apologized to me, in front of audiences, in front of many people, saying Brock never did anything. They dismissed their cases.
Remember, this is a civil thing. I’ve never been charged with a crime in my life. And the last plaintiff to have his case dismissed, he contacted his lawyer and said, “Dismiss this case against Brock. Brock never did anything. I just apologized. Dismiss his case.” And the lawyer said, “No. I won’t dismiss this case, I have all these out-of-pocket expenses, I refuse to file the paperwork unless you give me my out-of-pocket expenses.” And so the lawyer, I guess, had $21,000 in bills. So I paid his lawyer $21,000—not him, it was not a settlement. That was a payment to his lawyer for his out-of-pocket expenses. Out-of-pocket expenses so that he would file the paperwork to dismiss the case.
You’ve said the cases were unfounded, and the plaintiffs eventually apologized. But your boss, Marc Collins-Rector later pleaded guilty to eight charges of child enticement and registered as a sex offender. Were you aware of his behavior? How do you square the fact that later allegations proved to be true, but these ones were not?
Well, remember: I was 16 and 17 years old at the time? So, no. I don’t think Marc is the man they made him out to be. But Marc is not a person I would associate with today, and someone I haven’t associated with in a very long time. I was 16 and 17. I chose the wrong business partner. You live and you learn.
You’ve pointed out that you were underage when most of these allegations were said to take place. Did you ever feel like you were coerced or in over your head while working at DEN?
I mean, I was working 18 hours a day, doing things I’d never done before. It was business school. But I definitely learned a lot in building that company. We raised $88 million. We filed our [form] S-1 to go public. We were the hottest start-up in Los Angeles.
In 2000, you left the country with Marc Collins-Rector. Why did you leave? How did you spend those two years abroad?
I moved to Spain in 1999 for personal reasons. I spent those two years in Europe working on developing my businesses.
Interpol found you in 2002. The house where you were staying reportedly contained guns, machetes, and child pornography. Whose guns and child porn were those? Were you aware they were in the house, and how did those get there?
My lawyers have addressed this in 32 pages of documentation showing a complete absence of wrongdoing. Please refer to my webpage for more information.
[Ed. Note: The webpage does not mention guns, machetes, or child pornography. It does state:“It is true that when the local police arrested Collins-Rector in Spain in 2002 on an international warrant, Mr. Pierce was also taken into custody, but so was everyone at Collins-Rector’s house in Spain; and it is equally clear that Brock was promptly released, and no charges of any kind were ever filed against Brock concerning this matter.”]
What do you make of the allegations against Bryan Singer? [Ed. Note: Bryan Singer, a close friend of Collins-Rector, invested at least $50,000 in DEN. In an Atlantic article outlining Singer’s history of alleged sexual assault and statutory rape, one source claimed that at age 15, Collins-Rector abused him and introduced him to Singer, who then assaulted him in the DEN headquarters.]
I am aware of them and I support of all victims of sexual assault. I will let America’s justice system decide on Singer’s outcome.
In 2011, you spoke at the Mindshift conference supported by Jeffrey Epstein. At that point, he had already been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor. Why did you agree to speak?
I had never heard of Jeffrey Epstein. His name was not on the website. I was asked to speak at a conference alongside Nobel Prize winners. It was not a cryptocurrency conference, it was filled with Nobel Prize winners. I was asked to speak alongside Nobel Prize winners on the future of money. I speak at conferences historically, two to three times a week. I was like, “Nobel Prize winners? Sounds great. I’ll happily talk about the future of money with them.” I had no idea who Jeffrey Epstein was. His name was not listed anywhere on the website. Had I known what I know now? I clearly would have never spoken there. But I spoke at a conference that he cosponsored.
What’s your connection to the Clinton Global Initiative? Did you hear about it through Jeffrey Epstein?
I joined the Clinton Global Initiative as a philanthropist in 2006 and was a member for one year. My involvement with the Initiative had no connection to Jeffrey Epstein whatsoever.
You’ve launched your campaign in Minnesota, where George Floyd was killed by a police officer. How do you feel about the civil uprising against police brutality?
I’m from Minnesota. Born and raised. We just had a press conference there, announcing that we’re on the ballot. Former U.S. Senator Dean Barkley was there. So that tells you, when former U.S. Senators are endorsing the candidate, right?
[Ed. note: Barkley was never elected to the United States Senate. In November of 2002, he was appointed by then Minnesota Governor Jesse Venture to fill the seat after Sen. Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash. Barkley’s term ended on Jan. 3, 2003—two months later.]
Yes, George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis. My vice-presidential running mate Karla Ballard and I, on our last trip to Minnesota together, went to visit the George Floyd Memorial. I believe in law and order. I believe that law and order is foundational to any functioning society. But there is no doubt in my mind that we need reform. These types of events—this is not an isolated incident. This has happened many times before. It’s time for change. We have a lot of detail around policy on this issue that we will be publishing next week. Not just high-level what we think, not just a summary, but detailed policy.
You said that you support “law and order.” What does that mean?
“Law and order” means creating a fair and just legal system where our number one priority is protecting the inalienable rights of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” for all people. This means reforming how our police intervene in emergency situations, abolishing private prisons that incentivize mass incarceration, and creating new educational and economic opportunities for our most vulnerable communities. I am dedicated to preventing crime by eliminating the socioeconomic conditions that encourage it.
I support accountability and transparency in government and law enforcement. Some of the key policies I support are requiring body-cams on all law enforcement officers who engage with the public, curtailing the 1033 program that provides local law enforcement agencies with access to military equipment, and abolishing private prisons. Rather than simply defund the police, my administration will take a holistic approach to heal and unite America by ending mass incarceration, police brutality, and racial injustice.
Did you attend any Black Lives Matter protests?
I support all movements aimed at ending racial injustice and inequality. I have not attended any Black Lives Matter protests. My running-mate, Karla Ballard, attended the March on Washington in support of racial justice and equality.
Your platform doesn’t mention the words “climate change.” Is there a reason for that?
I’m not sure what you mean. Our policy platform specifically references human-caused climate change and we have a plan to restabilize the climate, address environmental degradation, and ensure environmental sustainability.
[Ed. Note: As of writing the Pierce campaign’s policy platform does not specifically reference human-caused climate change.]
You’ve recently brought on Akon as a campaign surrogate. How did that happen? Tell me about that.
Akon and I have been friends for quite some time. I was one of the guys that taught him about Bitcoin. I helped make some videogames for him, I think in 2012. We were talking about Bitcoin, teaching him the ropes, back in 2013. And in 2014, we were both speaking at the Milken Global Conference, and I encouraged him to talk about how Bitcoin, Africa, changed the world. He became the biggest celebrity in the world, talking about Bitcoin at the time. I’m an adviser to his Akoin project, very interested in the work that he’s doing to build a city in Africa.
I think we need a government that’s of, for, and by the people. Akon has huge political aspirations. He obviously was a hugely successful artist. But he also discovered artists like Lady Gaga. So not only is he, himself, a great artist, but he’s also a great identifier and builder of other artists. And he’s been a great businessman, philanthropist. He’s pushing the limits of what can be done. We’re like-minded individuals in that regard. I think he’ll be running for political office one day, because he sees what I see: that we need real change, and we need a government that is of, for, and by the people.
You mentioned that you’re an adviser on Akoin. Do you have any financial investments in Akoin or Akon City?
I don’t believe so. I’d have to check. I have so much stuff. But I don’t believe that I have any economic interests in his stuff. I’d have to verify that. We’ll get back to you. I don’t believe that I have any economic interests. My interest is in helping him. He’s a visionary with big ideas that wants to help things in the world. If I can be of assistance in helping him make the world a better place, I’m all for it. I’m not motivated by money. I’m not running for office because I’m motivated by power. I’m running for office because I’m deeply, deeply concerned about our collective future.
You’ve said you’re running on a pro-technology platform. One week into your campaign last month, a New York appeals court approved the state Attorney General’s attempt to investigate the stablecoin Tether for potentially fraudulent activity. Do you think this will impact your ability to sell people on your tech entrepreneurship?
No, I think my role in Tether is as awesome as it gets. It was my idea. I put it together. But I’ve had no involvement in the company since 2015. I gave all of my equity to the other shareholders. I’ve had zero involvement in the company for almost six years. It was just my idea. I put the initial team together. But I think Tether is one of the most important innovations in the world, certainly. The idea is, I digitized the U.S. dollar. I used technology to digitize currency—existing currency. The U.S. dollar in particular. It’s doing $10 trillion a year. Ten trillion dollars a year of transactional volume. It’s probably the most important innovation in currency since the advent of fiat money. The people that took on the business and ran the business in years to come, they’ve done things I’m not proud of. I’m not sure they’ve done anything criminal. But they certainly did things differently than I would do. But it’s like, you have kids, they turn 18, they go out into the world, and sometimes you’re proud of the things they do, and sometimes you shake your head and go, “Ugh, why did you do that?” I have zero concerns as it relates to me personally. I wish they made better decisions.
What do you think the investigation will find?
I have no idea. The problem that was raised is that there was a $5 million loan between two entities and whether or not they had the right to do that, did they disclose it correctly. There’s been no accusations of, like, embezzlement or anything that bad.
[Ed. Note: The Attorney General’s press release on the investigation reads: “Our investigation has determined that the operators of the ‘Bitfinex’ trading platform, who also control the ‘tether’ virtual currency, have engaged in a cover-up to hide the apparent loss of $850 million dollars of co-mingled client and corporate funds.”]
But there’s been some disclosure things, that is the issue. No one is making any outrageous claims that these are people that have done a bunch of bad—well, on the internet, the media has said that the people behind the business may have been manipulating the price of Bitcoin, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the New York investigation. Again, I’m so not involved, and so not at risk, that I’m not even up to speed on the details.
[Ed note: A representative of the New York State Attorney General told Forbes that he “cannot confirm or deny that the investigation” includes Pierce.]
We’ve recently witnessed the rise of QAnon, the conspiracy theory that Hollywood is an evil cabal of Satanic pedophiles and Trump is the person waging war on them. You mentioned human trafficking, which has become a cause for them. What are your thoughts on that?
I’ve watched some of the content. I think it’s an interesting phenomenon. I’m an internet person, so Anonymous is obviously an organization that has been doing interesting stuff. It’s interesting. I don’t have a big—conspiracy theory stuff is—I guess I have a question for you: What do you think of all of it, since you’re the expert?
You know, I think it’s not true, but I’m not running for president. I do wonder what this politician [Georgia congressional candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene], who’s just won her primary, is going to do on day one, once she finds out there’s no satanic cabal room.
Wait, someone was running for office and won on a QAnon platform, saying that Hollywood did—say what? You’re the expert here.
She won a primary. But I want to push on if we only have a few minutes. In 2006, your gaming company IGE brought on Steve Bannon as an investor. Goldman later bought out most of your stock. Bannon eventually replaced you as CEO of Affinity. You’ve described him as your “right-hand man for, like, seven years.” How well did you know Bannon during that time?
Yes, so this is in my mid-twenties. He wasn’t an investor. He worked for me. He was my banker. He worked for me for three years as my yield guide. And then he was my CEO running the company for another four years. So I haven’t worked with Steve for a decade or so. We worked in videogame stuff and banking. He was at Goldman Sachs. He was not in the political area at the time. But he was a pretty successful banker. He set up Goldman Sachs Los Angeles. So for me, I’d say he did a pretty good job.
During your business relationship, Steve Bannon founded Breitbart News, which has pretty consistently published racist material. How do you feel about Breitbart?
I had no involvement with Breitbart News. As for how I feel about such material, I’m not pleased by any form of hate-mongering. I strongly support the equality of all Americans.
Did you have qualms about Bannon’s role in the 2016 election?
Bannon’s role in the Trump campaign got me to pay closer attention to what he was doing but that’s about it. Whenever you find out that one of your former employees has taken on a role like that, you pay attention.
Bannon served on the board of Cambridge Analytica. A staffer on your campaign, Brittany Kaiser, also served as a business director for them. What are your thoughts on their use of illicitly-obtained Facebook data for campaign promotional material?
Yes, so this will be the last question I can answer because I’ve got to be off for this 5:00 pm. But Brittany Kaiser is a friend of mine. She was the whistleblower of Cambridge Analytica. She came to me and said, “What do I do?” And I said, “Tell the truth. The truth will set you free.”
[Ed. Note: Investigations in Cambridge Analytica took place as early as Nov. 2017, when a U.K. reporter at Channel 4 News recorded their CEO boasting about using “beautiful Ukranian girls” and offers of bribes to discredit political officials. The first whistleblower was Christopher Wylie, who disclosed a cache of documents to The Guardian, published on Mar. 17, 2018. Kaiser’s confession ran five days later, after the scandal made national news. Her association with Cambridge Analytica is not mentioned anywhere on Pierce’s campaign website.]
So I’m glad that people—I’m a supporter of whistleblowers, people that see injustice in the world and something not right happening, and who put themselves in harm’s way to stand up for what they believe in. So I stand up for Brittany Kaiser.
Who do you think [anonymous inventor of Bitcoin] Satoshi Nakamoto is?
We all are Satoshi Nakamoto.
You got married at Burning Man. Have you been attending virtual Burning Man?
I’m running a presidential campaign. So, while I was there in spirit, unfortunately my schedule did not permit me to attend.

Is There a Serial Pusher in Manchester? Don't Walk in the Tunnel of Doom. Death at the Devil's Urinal. Part 1
A Visit To the Devil’s Urinal. - The Manchester Murder Mystery
Is there a serial killer loose in Manchester, and if so how has he been allowed to kill constantly for years and remain hidden. Shockingly when checking figures only the men found deceased on the canal are counted in the ‘Pushers’ death toll. And they are only counted if they are found along a small stretch of the canal within the inner city. On the 11th of January, 2015, British tabloid The Daily Star made the connection after using the Freedom of Information Act to check the number of deaths along the canal system, the Star's report revealed that 61 bodies had been pulled from the waters of Manchester in the last six years.
The Manchester ship canal runs all the way to the coast, and has many tributaries, yet the cases on these stretches are neither counted or investigated. In 2020 Reynard Sinaga was convicted of a number of sexual assaults on young men he helped back to his flat where he would drug them, attack them and film the ordeal. His apartment was on the canal itself, yet he is not being linked to any of the Pusher cases. Several days after his arrest the Manchester evening news reported there is no Pusher, and there will be no enquiry into the death of the many missing males who go missing here every month. There are thought to be around 90 deaths attributed to the Manchester 'Pusher' in the last 15 yrs. No deaths before this date are counted, and no missing are included in this number. 90 is the number of recovered victims. 90 Males pulled from the waterway, yet the Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council and the Media will tell you there is no one responsible for these deaths. If the deaths were accidental, surely safety precautions put in place would have reduced the number greatly? If these cases are due to bad lighting or hazardous walkways, why has this not been rectified. The City has Millions of pounds spent within its centre every day. Yet CCTV footage is minimal and Police presence a rarity.
And why no mention of the female victims, so many of them go missing on the Canal, in one case all that was found was a lower limb, the case was closed and reported as having “no suspicious circumstances’? Other victims' whereabouts were lost when vital CCTV evidence was 'missing' or 'unavailable' yet Manchester city centre has thousands of CCTV cameras in operation. One man phoned his parents, who stayed on the phone with him, and contacted the police. For 1 1/2 hrs the 999 call operator stayed on the line and tried to help. Yet the next day the police said although the 999 system records all calls automatically, unfortunately for this one call out of the many thousand received that day there is no record? This gentlemans phone was found many days later next to the canal in an area already searched by the police.
Man’s body was found in Greater Manchester waterway, taking the total number of deaths in the region in seven years to 85 - 3/2/16. The body of a man has been pulled from a canal in Greater Manchester. An astonishing 85 bodies - mostly men - have been pulled from the region's waterways in the last seven years. The cause behind the majority of the deaths are believed to have been established as not suspicious, but 28 are still classified as 'unexplained', resulting in open verdicts. Emergency services and a specialist diving unit were called after a body was spotted in Portland Basin at around 8.30am today. The man is white and believed to be in his 40s or 50s. A GMP spokesman said it was too early to establish how the man died or whether there are any suspicious circumstances.
Some recent deaths have caused speculation that loved ones were the victims of a serial killer they dubbed The Pusher - a psychopath who murders his targets by bundling them into the icy waters. Some families believe their claim has considerable substance not only because of the disproportionately high numbers of people to have died in the rivers, but due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths of several men.

Man’s body found in water at Salford Quays 3/6/20 - Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in water at Salford Quays. Shortly before 1pm today the body of a man was discovered in the water near the Salford Watersports Centre. His body was recovered from the water by Greater Manchester Fire crews along with police.
A little like the Smiley faced killer in America the Pusher has a penchant for young men. Although as of yet no handy signature has been left at the scene. The men are often out in town, enjoying a meet up with mates, or spending their hard earned wages from the previous few days. The men, some of which are boys, are often separated from their friends for one reason or another. Many of them have phones and wallets intact when found. Which speaks of no robbery and the ability to get a cab home. So how do they vanish and appear in or next too Manchester's notorious water way?
One local resident called the Canal the ‘Devils Urinal’ due to the number of crimes committed along it's stretch and the many hundreds of people it has killed in the history of its existence. My Grt, Grt grand parents on my Mothers side left Ireland to build the canal in the 1890’s. Tinkers and Navvies they were called. Hard working men who were paid pennies to work in the deadly conditions. The canal which is really a River system made it easier for goods to be transported between Manchester and the docks at Liverpool. It made Manchester an inland port and changed the fortunes for many, good and bad. 130 men were killed during its construction. And many perished later due to the harsh working conditions. The canal was bombed over and over during the war, it shaped the city of my birth. Gone are the original communities like Hanky park and Langworthy. Over 200 years and the deaths continue, many of the cases closed regardless of circumstances. Many petitions have been presented from families asking for an inquiry into the deaths.
The next case we look at I feel should be high on the list of investigations to be re-opened.The glaring incompetence of the Police in this case was so bad it almost smacks of a cover up. It is at the very least gross negligence. Like most of the cases there was very little investigation done. People even today have the 'they were drunk' attitude when it comes to these cases. Or even worse, 'they put themselves in danger by being where they were'. Yet millions of people visit the city centre night clubs and bars everyday, restaurants, cafes and shops and make it home just fine. These cases are different. And when you see them all together you begin to realise there could be something to the rumours that a killer or several killers are at large in the Manchester area. Times that by every waterway, in every city and the figures become staggering.
Find out who Killed our Son!' Parents hear "Howls and Screams" in their son's final call? - Tragic David Plunkett’s chilling screams, heard by a 999 call handler, were not taped because the recorder was not working, claimed GMP Police. The officer who dealt with the “distressing” call was so appalled by the blunder she later resigned. The phone call from David, 21, who came from Halifax, W Yorks, was the last anyone heard from him before he was found dead in the Manchester Ship Canal three weeks later. He vanished after leaving a nightclub at Trafford Park near Manchester in April 2004. His reason for being ejected? he pushed into a queue for the gents toilets. This sadly changed the course of his life and left his family and friends devastated.
At his inquest we heard that his anguished parents rang him to check if he was OK after hearing he had lost his pals. He started to scream and howl. They dialled 999 on another phone and held the two handsets together so the police operator could hear his distress. It was the last time they spoke to their son. The pair called their son's phone the night he died, only to hear terrified screams. Anne said: 'The screaming and howling was so unearthly that you just felt it had to be something.'
This message was Issued from a former GMP officer who handled the call. The woman, who we are not naming, said: “I took a very distressing 999 call.” She said David had been “in a distressed state” during the call with his parents “but they could not hear anything other than their son screaming”. She added: “I dealt with them for well over an hour, trying to sort out assistance for them and him. "The incident still haunts me to this date and with every death I see reported in the news I become more and more convinced that these are murders and not accidents.”
A pathologist said the likely cause of death was drowning and the inquest ruled it was accidental. But David’s mum Anne, 66, disagrees. And she hit out at the police probe into her son’s death. The retired head teacher said: “Someone is responsible for David’s death. The police investigation was unacceptable. "It was a case of ‘young man, too much to drink, falls into the canal, end of story’. "But so many important factors were ignored and there were versions of events that simply did not add up.”
David Plunkett had been at a concert at the Daytona Racetrack, also in Trafford Park, before he went missing in April 2004. Recalling the last time she spoke to her son, Anne said: “I could barely make out what he was saying. "He started screaming and howling. "It was extremely distressing. "I thought he was being attacked. “We rang the police and put the phone to them but it soon went dead. "It later turned out the call wasn’t recorded because the tape recorder wasn’t working. "It really does beggar belief.” Anne said her brother found David’s phone upstream from the body – despite an earlier police search. She added: “The whole case leaves more questions than answers. "He could have been attacked, he could have had his drink spiked. "Anything could have happened.”

"In the early hours of the morning, the phone went and it was David's friend Michael," his mother, Anne, stated. "He said he'd lost David and was trying to get in touch with him. He said he and David had lost each other in the club, and I just said to close the phone and I'd try to call David. It took about three attempts before David answered, but he didn't speak. The first thing that struck me was the quietness of where David was. It was virtually silent. All I could hear was the sound of him walking, that was evident from his breathing, and I said, 'Do you know where you are? Are you in Manchester? Do you recognise anything?' – but I got no response from him. And then, about seven or eight minutes into the call, there was suddenly this ghastly screaming. I started crying, handed the phone to my husband, Mike, and I made a 999 call"
"The screaming I heard," continues Mike, "made me feel like David had seen something that had terrified him." Then at 4:30 AM," says Anne, "the phone just went dead."
It took the police two weeks to find his body in the canal. They claimed to have searched the area and nothing was found. His uncle found his phone not too far from where his body was recovered after the supposed police search. What happened to David that night. The area of the nightclub is well lit, there are taxis outside and lots of numbers advertised in the foyer. walking towards the lights makes far more sense than wandering out of the bustle and towards the canal. Why did David not contact his friend? Were there any missed calls or texts between them? Why did the police not track David's phone and his movements that night. There is CCTV coverage in the area. Even though it was late people would have been around. It's a popular area even at night. Was anything missing from David when he was finally recovered. Were there any signs of injury? Sadly the case is now closed and there will be no further investigations or enquiries made.
A Man was Hurled into a Canal at night - Rumours of a possible serial attacker have been revived after a 34-year-old office worker was thrown into the city’s Bridgewater canal then kicked back in as he tried to save himself from drowning. The victim, who said he almost drowned after his legs became tangled in his bicycle while he was below the surface of the canal, said he had asked police about the “Manchester pusher” legend and that “they were well aware of the stories”. “I definitely feel like I’m lucky to be alive. I could easily have drowned because of what he did,” The Pusher was described as a white male aged between 20-40, he is of average height and was wearing a black jacket.
Tom says he is "disappointed" with the police response and said the canals were the perfect place for crime. "It's pitch black down there," he said. "There's no lights. You look up, someone catches your eye and then in four seconds you're in dirty water."
Tom is right, it takes a split second to push someone into the murky waters of the canal. There are areas below the bridges and walkways where you do not walk at night or in the day for fear of your safety. Many drugs deals, robberies and hate crimes take place in these hidden spots. Out of the way from busy shoppers and party goers. Once you leave the bright lights of central Manchester you are confronted with an almost Victorian street mentality. Pickpockets, homeless folk and thieves are around every corner. Add to this the lack of officers to attend incidents and you have a perfect melting pot for committing crime and getting away with it. If you want to steal someone’s phone, money, sense of security or life, do it in the back streets of Manchester and you won't have to pay a price.
8/6/18 Orlando Nyero was celebrating his 19th birthday in Manchester. Three days later his body was pulled from the Canal, which runs through the heart of the city. But he was not the first man to be found in that very spot, another victim had already died after a night out, and his body was discovered only 3 months earlier. Orlando was found in the same waterway as student Charlie Pope, also 19. Orlando and Charlie are among 90 people who have been recovered dead from Greater Manchester’s canals since 2007. There are many more who are reported missing never to be found.
Nick Pope spoke about his son Charlie and his mysterious death ""Look around here, it's just a bloody death trap," he says, as people drink outside at tables a few metres from the water's edge" The lighting is bad and there is no CCTV. Nobody knows what happened to Charlie that night. Three months later Orlando was found in almost the same spot. 19-year-old, Orlando Nyero, drowned a few hundred metres further down the same stretch of water. Orlando's brother, Sam Abui, was with him that night and said they had been celebrating a birthday in the city. "The police said it was an accident. It was a tragic accident," he said.
Manchester City Centre is a hot spot for tourists and party goers alike, there is also a huge student population close to the centre as Manchester has a number of colleges, universities and teaching hospitals. Thousands of people visit the city each day and the evenings are no exception. Yet step two streets away from the bright lights and you will find yourself in the city's seedy underbelly. The central gardens in Piccadilly are a very good example of this. Many years ago the gardens were a lovely place to be. I would often sit there and eat my lunch each day, as I worked in the city centre, but at night it was a place to be avoided. Drug pushers and drunks abound, and one street away you have the heart of the city's red light district. Now sadly you have to avoid the back streets and the gardens even in the daytime, the police are short handed and understaffed. There is no help out there on the streets other than your own. People are killed, raped and attacked on an almost daily basis.
Yet the City Council, the local newspaper and media will deny there is a problem, numerous times it has been stated there is not a problem in Manchester when it comes to crime. The men and women pulled from the canal are in there by choice, or due to bad judgement of their own. The powers that be refuse to admit there is a problem with 'date rape' drugs, yet hundreds of cases are handled by Greater Manchester police each year. In the past year alone two men have been arrested and jailed for this very crime.
Police have charged a man over the death of popular Northern Quarter chef Hiran Chauhan whose body was found wrapped in plastic in woodland close to Buile Hill Park in Salford shortly before 8.10am on Tuesday 9 July 2019. Police descended on a small patch of woodland close to Buile Hill Park at around 8:10 am 9/7/20 after they were alerted to a body having been found by school children which appeared to be wrapped in plastic. The children were heading to school for morning lessons at the nearby Buile Hill Academy when the grisly discovery was made.

Hiran had last been seen making his way home from work in Manchester on the 2nd of July, he later was seen exiting a tram at Langworthy at around 11:31pm but tragically he never made it to his room in a rented house he shared with others. Neil Cuckson (16/10/1987) of Eccles Old Road in Salford has been charged with Administering a Noxious Substance, Supplying class A and class C controlled drugs, Perverting the Course of Justice and Preventing Lawful Burial and will appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on Thursday December 19 2019.
Reynhard Sinaga: 'Evil sexual predator' jailed for life for 159 attacks - Reynhard Sinaga was found guilty of luring 48 men from outside Manchester clubs to his flat, where he drugged and assaulted them - filming the attacks. Police say they have evidence Sinaga, 36, who is being named for the first time, targeted at least 190 victims. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Sinaga was "the most prolific rapist in British legal history". The judge ruled his life sentence must include a minimum of 30 years in jail. The postgraduate student was already serving life, with a minimum term of 20 years, for the offences he was convicted of in two earlier trials, which took place in summer 2018 and last spring.
Detectives say they have been unable to identify a further 70 victims and are now appealing for anyone who believes they may have been abused by Sinaga to come forward. At the hearing, Judge Suzanne Goddard QC said Sinaga was "an evil serial predator who has preyed upon young men" who wanted "nothing more than a good night out with their friends". "In my judgment you are a highly dangerous, cunning and deceitful individual who will never be safe to be released," she said - adding that the decision to release prisoners is made by the Parole Board.

Sinaga would wait for men leaving nightclubs and bars before leading them to his flat in Montana House, Princess Street, often with the offer of somewhere to have a drink or call a taxi. He drugged his victims before assaulting them while they were unconscious. When the victims woke up many of them had no memory of what had happened. The student, who denied the charges, had claimed all the activity was consensual and that each man had agreed to being filmed while pretending to be asleep - a defence described by the judge as "ludicrous".
At an earlier sentencing, the judge said she was sure that Sinaga had used a form of date rape drug such as GHB. The rapist was caught in June 2017 when one victim, who regained consciousness while being assaulted, fought Sinaga off and called the police. Assistant Chief Constable Mabbs Hussain said the true extent of Sinaga's offending would probably never be known. "We suspect he's offended over a period of 10 years," he said. "The information and evidence we are going from is largely from trophies that he's collected from the victims of his crimes." Investigators traced dozens of victims from the videos using clues found in Sinaga's Manchester flat, such as stolen phones, ID cards and watches.
The flat mentioned in the article was situated ideally for Sinaga, in fact it was on canal street itself, his balcony overlooked the canal. Was he responsible for any of the mystery deaths, it would be easy to quietly push somebody from your first floor level into the canal below. Or to slip out of the building with a rug or suitcase in the dead of night and rid yourself of a problem. Yet the police state there is no connection between Sinaga and any of the 'Pushers' suspected victims. It would have been very easy for him to pick up lone males and offer his help. Come back to mine, phone a taxi and we can have a drink while you wait, was probably said a hundred times by Sinaga. How many other Sinaga’s are out there, unknown? How many have there been before him, predatory males, who use Manchester centre as their dumping ground?
I grew up in Manchester in the 70’s and 80’s. I was a young lass when the Yorkshire ripper cases started to be reported. I remember another level of fear each time a new body was recovered. I remember curfews for women and men questioned by police because they had a Northern accent or drove for a living. I remember the tape of Wearside Jack being played in school assemblies and on the TV at home. I remember our neighbour being murdered around that time, she was coming home from the pub. She was so badly disfigured and abused by her murderer the police counted her as a Ripper victim until her killer was caught. And I remember the snide remarks of “well she put herself in that position” “if she had been home seeing to her husband this would not have happened” I was so shocked by these comments they still sit with me. And yet 40 yrs on it's still a popular public opinion.
I highly doubt the lady in question set out that night intending to be cruelly killed, disemboweled and left for dead on scrap land within feet of her own front door. Back then the ladies would work all week and on a saturday, with their best frock on and hair newly set and ready they would go to bingo or down to the local pub or club, for a few port and lemons and a natter with their friends. Pubs shut at 10.30pm then. Back home with a chippy supper and hopes of a lie in tomorrow morning were probably the last actions and thoughts she had. She was somebody's Mum, sister, daughter and wife, an aunt and a niece and probably someone's best friend. And because she joined her friends from the mill or factory for a drink she deserved what came her way. That's shocking, but what shocks me more is 40 years later we utter the same words. “If he was at home this wouldn't have happened” “why put yourself in that position” has been said about every one of the missing males found in the Canal. And they are someone’s son, father, brother, uncle and nephew, they had mates they went to the gym with, or played footy with as kids. Ordinary working class lads letting their hair down and having a good time, before it's back to work on Monday morning. We all did this and still do, in towns and cities across the UK. Getting spruced up and meeting your mates after working all week was the norm. I remember hundreds of times I rushed back home on payday to get ready to go out when I was young, free and single. I have attended 18th’s, 21st’s, Hen do’s, Birthdays in the pubs and clubs. And made it home safe and sound each time. I am one of the lucky ones. see part 2

2020.09.20 21:03 Mistresspreslie Why sex workers support Donald Trump

Interesting isn't it?🧐
Republicans are conservative, that's just a fact. And sex workers are just . . . Not. Lol! A conservative sex worker is one who conceals their face while posting naughty pictures online.
But why do so many sex workers lean towards President Trump versus Joe Biden?
I was a stripper for nine years, now running an onlyfans site & online webcamming. Throughout my whole career I have been a diehard Republican.
I am from New Jersey which is a very liberal state, but I do come from a Republican county. The area I live in has a lot of wealth and they don't want to see more of it go to taxes. So that has always stuck with me, Democrats will raise taxes. Even if they raised property taxes last year, they will raise them again this year
I started dancing in 2011 under the Obama administration. I was 18 years old when I started, and all of the "older" strippers had told me that before the recession they were killing it. Once the recession hit they had to fight to make money. At this time in 2011 things were slowly getting better. People were getting out of that recession mentality; "save every penny because you could lose your job tomorrow." But the industry had no way recovered to pre-2008 standards.
I had gotten really lucky. I was 18 years old "fresh meat" and I was going to make money just because I was the new girl. But I watched a lot of girls struggle to make $200 on a weekend night that should bring in $600+ easily.
I had two good summers, in 2012 and 2013. I was a new face, I was still a "teen," like I said, "fresh meat" sells better. 2014 was horrible! I was only 21 years old and it was an awful summer, no one was making money. The Jersey shore was dead, rentals were empty. Hurricane Sandy hit in November 2012, most businesses were back up and running in the summer of 2013. Some had yet to reopen in 2013, but by the summer of 2014 All of the businesses had re-opened, all of the rentals have been fixed and open for business. But only half were booked ON WEEKENDS. Weekdays were absolutely dead. Our club being 3 miles from the beach relied heavily on this summer traffic. During 2014 there waa no difference between summer and winter. Both were the same, disappointing. Many of my friends were struggling, needing to work 6 days a week just to get by.
2015 got a little bit better, but not much. And then a big change came in 2016.
2016 was an election year, and yes strippers talk politics. Now 23 years old and dancing for five years I was already a veteran. I was one of the highest earners at the club and people would often come to me for money making advice. I also love talking politics, history, and proving people wrong; so the dressing room hosted A LOT of political debates. "Welcome to debate club, strippers edition." 😂
A lot of the new, younger girls were very excited about Hillary Clinton running for President. They were hoping that she would win, that she would legalize marijuana, that she would "change" this country. But the girls who had been dancing for years, the girls who were making a lot of money. . . They were all for candidate Trump.
"Why would you vote for Trump?" Was a question I was frequently asked.
"Trump wants to make abortion illegal!" "Trump will never legalize marijuana!" Those were the biggest complaints about Trump.
As for abortion, I believe the woman has the right to choose. But I also know politics. I know that Trump is from New York and he's not super conservative, he is not from the Bible belt, he is never going to waste his time making abortions illegal in this country. He knows they are a necessary evil. But will he say he is against it? Absolutely, he needs to please those ultra conservative voters. Something A LOT OF PEOPLE don't understand.
As for marijuana, I think we need the extra revenue so that the Democrats could spend it. But would Hillary Clinton have been able to make it legal with a Republican controlled Senate. (And house at the time I believe). . I don't think so.
And like I stated the girls who were making a lot of money, who had invested in other businesses and were getting ready to retire, or who had owned real estate. . . They were all voting for Trump.
"The Trump girls," did not want to pay more money in taxes in a very high tax state. They wanted to be able to use their extra income to invest in other opportunities, to invest in their kids college education, or go to school themselves. Of course the younger Clinton voters weren't even claiming taxes, so they didn't care how much she raised our taxes. They wanted to collect more welfare because their income was totally off the books.
President Trump ended up winning the election, and very quickly Something Happened. The stock market started going up. As mentioned, we are from a republican wealthy county in New Jersey. A lot of these men work in New York on Wall Street, or are heavily invested in the market. Once the stock market went up, the club was popping! The winter of 2016-2017 was amazing. People felt more secure to spend money, Guys had no problem dropping $3,4,500 in the VIP room. We finally had a huge shower of singles on stage for the first time in forever. And this was only the winter.
Summer 2017 came and it was my best summer ever. It was my best summer even though by mid august I was barely working as I was suffering horrible morning sickness when I got pregnant with my first child. $1500 could be made in 2-3 hours on a weekend night. If you got really lucky it could be made as a tip in a 15 minute VIP room. 2017 was the summer of money!
My life took a turn however. After I had my son I really didn't work that much. I would go in one or two days a month. But it was still enough for me to be able to buy my very first apartment! If I had worked like that during the Obama years, I would have been struggling to pay rent. However I was paying a mortgage and saving money.
I basically call myself semi-retired now. And now I am entering my third trimester with my second baby. But from august 2017-january 2020 on a two day a month schedule, I was able to save enough money to put a down payment on a bigger home.
The taxes in this state are ridiculous, and we will never vote in a Republican governor to lower our taxes. But the last thing I need is higher federal taxes.
Instead of debating The legalization of marijuana, I am now having debates about college education for my kids. Why wouldn't I vote for Joe Biden who believes in free college education? I am going to have two children to put through college. And that answer is very simple. My kids are young. I have 15 1/2 more years to save for my older son and I started saving for him a week after he was born. Even if I only put away $2000 a year, he will have $36,000 once he turns 18; enough to pay for his first year. Invested in the S&P 500 that could easily be $70,000. What if I have a good year and I could invest another thousand dollars?
Joe Biden wants to give us free community college which is what? 5K a year? Even if he did make four year colleges free, would they be only state schools? Im sure private schools wouldn't be free. At rutgers the current tuition in-state is about $10,000/year. 4 years would be $40,000. With what I am saving right now, I would only be $4000 short of covering all four years of college. That is not calculating gains from the market.
But what if my taxes were raised another $2000 a year? That money would be going to the government instead of saving for my son. What if he increased taxes to 50%? Not only would I not be able to save money for my kids I wouldn't be able to save money for short term goals.
I recently became an only fans creator, taking advantage of my pregnancy and the fetish industry. Some of these woman are making $300,000+ a year. I have been much more successful in a month than I ever thought I would.
My reason for starting this work was to help my husband fund our home renovation. I thought I would be able to help with little things, but now I am going to be able to help with bigger things and save money for my kids college fund.
As I am learning more about the online sex worker industry, I see all of the expenses these girls have. They need to buy good cameras and film equipment. Constantly on their phones, you need good service and a lot of data. New content is a must for success, hence new outfits, backdrops, toys, props, and shoes for the foot fetish guys!
All of the money needs to be claimed INCLUDING tips. It's not like being a stripper where the majority of your money goes unclaimed, in fact it can't even be tracked because it's cash tipped to you behind a closed VIP room curtain. Every dime an Only Fans creator makes is carefully logged and must be claimed at the end of the year. And let's not forget Only Fans takes 20% of your earnings off the top, to run their website and because of the high fees credit card companies charge because it is considered a "high risk industry."
So creators lose 20% off the top. I would say they easily spend 10% of their income on work related expenses for making their content better. Some pay for promotions so that their pages grow faster. Others NEED assistants or hire other experts. We employ a lot of other people! But 30% is gone right away.
Then you have to pay taxes, depending on your state and your tax bracket it could be as little as 15% and as much as 40%! Let's say we need to pay 25% in taxes just like a lot of people. That's 55% of our money gone.
Let's say you're doing pretty well on only fans making $5000 a month, $60,000/year. $12,000 you'll never even see. $6000 goes towards all of the expenses and is tax deductible. And now you have to pay taxes on $42,000. $10,500 (25%) and $16,800(40%) doesn't seem like a big difference, but it is when you put in so much hard work. Imagine making $60,000 but only having $25,000 to show for it after taxes. It makes it not even worth it.
Even if you're working 12 hours a day/7 days a week and making $200,000/year on Only fans, having less than $100,000 in your pocket at the end of the day is complete BS!
Some might ask, why not switch sites? Live cam sites take 40% or more of your money! If you're a stay at home mom like me, you can't stream live on camera while your kid is home or awake.
So now that I got into the financials of online sex work, you can understand why so many sex workers support President Trump. Unlike a regular job, we have to pay a fee just to make money. We don't want our taxes raised on top of it!
Then there are the customers. We rely on customers to put their credit card into a Onlyfans, and spend anywhere from $3 to $20 a month on a creator's subscription profile.
Despite many people losing their jobs because of Covid, the site has been busier than ever. Instead of going out to clubs, movies, or taking girls on dates, guys have been going on dates with their favorite online sex worker. but not everybody is able to do that at the moment.
If you are struggling, if you can't pay your bills, you're not going to be spending money on online porn, let's be real. Covid and the impact it has had on jobs is not the Presidents' fault. I'm thinking back to that horrible summer of 2014 when Obama was in office. How slow would Only Fans be if this was 2014. With so many extra creators trying to make money because they also have lost jobs, there would be very few girls making big money, and the majority making nothing. Right now you have a lot of girls making a lot of money, a lot of girls making a decent living, and just a few making pennies.
I think President Trump has given customers confidence that the economy is going to turn around, that jobs are going to come back. He has also given them an amazing economy over the past few years that has allowed people to fill their savings accounts. We are not in the "save every penny mentality," that I saw in 2011 when things were recovering from a big recession.
That's Another reason many sex workers support Trump. He gives clients the confidence to spend their hard earned money.
There are many issues that sex workers do not agree with Republicans on. The biggest I could think of is abortion & the woman's right to choose. Prostitution is another big one, especially for me. I would love to see legal prostitution in New Jersey one day! I would be so proud if my son could own New Jersey's first legal brothel. The reasons why I support LEGAL prostitution is a totally different argument, but Republicans would never support that! Yet I still side with Republicans.
We side with Republicans because we want to have better lives not only for ourselves but for our children. And in this country you need money to have a better life. You need money to move from a tiny two bedroom apartment into a simple townhouse. You need money to invest in your children's future so they don't need to be sex workers. You need money to invest in another business so you don't need to sext all day long. And you need money if you want to clear your head and take a vacation or go to the spa for a day! And that money does better in the hands of individual citizens to choose what they want to do with it, versus in the hands of the government!
If you have the "guts" to be a sex worker you should be compensated. It is a huge industry that makes billions of dollars, and provides jobs for millions of people. (and I say GUTS because not everyone can have the confidence to go online and show their body to strangers. Not everyone could act. Not everyone could stand tall and tell the world, I send nude videos for a living.)
I could stand tall and say it! I am a sex worker! I work really hard for my money! I show my body on camera to random men, and I'm good at it! And I don't want Joe Biden to come in and raise taxes under the farce of "free college." I don't need Joe Biden to make everyday working men lose confidence in our economy. And I certainly don't need to spend priceless time to decipher what the hell Joe Biden is trying to say to me (sorry I had to add that! 😂) And if the day ever comes that I decide I don't want to do this work anymore, I know President Trump has made the economy great and could make it even better, allowing me to find another well-paying job to support my family.

SBLC Meaning & bg sblc provider
What is Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC or SLOC)? A standby letter of credit (SBLC or SLOC) is a legal document that guarantees a bank’s commitment of payment to a seller in the event that the buyer–or the bank’s client–defaults on the agreement. Grand City Investment Limited is a Standby Letter of Credit provider, bg sblc provider, bank guarantee provider, Real SBLC Provider, bank instrument provider, Lease SBLC, SBLC Funding, SBLC Financing & BG SBLC Monetization, We are monetizers of bank instruments.

A standby letter of credit helps facilitate international trade between companies that don’t know each other and have different laws and regulations. Although the buyer is certain to receive the goods and the seller certain to receive payment, a Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC or SLOC) doesn’t guarantee that the buyer will be happy with the goods. A standby letter of credit can also be abbreviated SBLC Also, a standby letter of credit is different from a bank guarantee.

How a Standby Letter of Credit Works

A SLOC/SBLC is most often sought by a business to help it obtain a contract. The contract is a “standby” agreement because the bank will have to pay only in a worst-case scenario. Although an SBLC guarantees payment to a seller, the agreement must be followed exactly. For example, a delay in shipping or a misspelling a company’s name can lead to the bank refusing to make the payment.

What is the difference between SBLCs and LCs?

A Standby Letter of Credit is different from a Letter of Credit. An SBLC is paid when called on after conditions have not been fulfilled. However, a Letter of Credit is the guarantee of payment when certain specifications are met and documents received from the selling party.
Both the regular letter of credit and standby letter of credit are payment instruments used in international trade. However, there are some basic differences which we will try to explain below. LC Vs. SBLC A. LC: A letter of credit is a promise from the bank that the buyer i.e. importer will fulfill his payment obligation and pay the full invoice amount on time. The role of the issuing bank is to make sure that the buyer pays. In case the buyer is unable to fulfill his obligation, the bank will pay to the seller i.e. the exporter, but the funds come from the buyer. B. SBLC: A standby letter of credit is a secondary payment method where bank guarantees the payment when terms of the letter of credit are fulfilled by the seller. It is a kind of additional safety net for the seller. The buyer may not pay the seller due to multiple reasons such as cash flow crunch, dishonesty, bankruptcy, etc. But as long as the seller meet’s the requirement of a standby letter of credit, the bank will pay.
📷
The purpose of this letter is to establish a bank guarantee for the deal or transaction with a third party. For example, if an individual wishes to take a loan, but does not have a sufficient credit standing, the bank may then ask for a guarantee from another party (third party), and this is done in the form of a standby letter of credit that is issued by another bank. However, the said individual would then have to produce certain documents or evidence to support the non-performance of the buyer to obtain the payment through the SBLC.
The bank is obligated to make payment if the documents presented comply with the terms of contract. Though, the SBLC are considered very versatile and can be used with modifications to suit the interests and requirements of the buyers and sellers.
Letters of credit are used extensively in the financing of international trade, where the reliability of contracting parties cannot be readily and easily determined. Its economic effect is to introduce a bank as an underwriter, where it assumes the counterparty risk of the buyer paying the seller for goods. The Standby Letter Of Credit (SBLC) is governed by a set of guidelines known as the Uniform Customs and Practice (UCP 600), which was first created in the 1930s by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Uses of SBLC

An SBLC is frequently used as a safety mechanism for the beneficiary, in an attempt to hedge out risks associated with the trade. Simplistically, it is a guarantee of payment which will be issued by a bank on the behalf of a client. It is also perceived as a “payment of last resort” due to the circumstances under which it is called upon. The SBLC prevents contracts going unfulfilled if a business declares bankruptcy or cannot otherwise meet financial obligations.
Furthermore, the presence of an SBLC is usually seen as a sign of good faith as it provides proof of the buyer’s credit quality and the ability to make payment. In order to set this up, a short underwriting duty is performed to ensure the credit quality of the party that is looking for a letter of credit. Once this has been performed, a notification is then sent to the bank of the party who requested the Letter of Credit (typically the seller).
In the case of a default, the counter-party may have part of the finance paid back by the issuing bank under an SBLC. Standby Letter of Credit’s are used to promote confidence in companies because of this.

Types of Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC/SLOC)

Advantages of a Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC / SLOC)

The SLOC is often seen in contracts involving international trade, which tend to involve a large commitment of money and have added risks.
For the business that is presented with a SLOC, the greatest advantage is the potential ease of getting out of that worst-case scenario. If an agreement calls for payment within 30 days of delivery and the payment is not made, the seller can present the SLOC to the buyer’s bank for payment. Thus, the seller is guaranteed to be paid. Another advantage for the seller is that the SBLC reduces the risk of the production order being changed or canceled by the buyer.
An SBLC helps ensure that the buyer will receive the goods or service that’s outlined in the document. For example, if a contract calls for the construction of a building and the builder fails to deliver, the client presents the SLOC to the bank to be made whole. Another advantage when involved in global trade, a buyer has an increased certainty that the goods will be delivered from the seller.
Also, small businesses can have difficulty competing against bigger and better-known rivals. An SBLC can add credibility to its bid for a project and can often times help avoid an upfront payment to the seller.

Cost of SBLC

2020.09.19 08:05 secretymology TIL 10 things about Zoom software and its shadowy founder Eric Yuan

Having wondered about the readiness of Zoom (like the contact tracing contracts and pandemic protocols of Event201) to ’facilitate’ our current predicament, and never having heard of it until the lockdowns, I thought I’d delve further into its mysterious founder and foundation. A shallow skim revealed:
1) Founder was ‘inspired’ by Bill Gates:
When Eric Yuan was in his early 20s, he heard a speech from then-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates about the promise of the internet, and Yuan decided he wanted to move from China to the US to be a part of the Silicon Valley tech boom.
Today, Yuan is the 49-year-old founder and CEO of videoconferencing cloud software company Zoom, which debuted on the Nasdaq exchange on Thursday in an IPO that currently values the company at more than $16 billion.

2) Relationship with Gates (and Microsoft) not so friendly these days. Microsoft’s Skype pushing for pole position. Was Microsoft responsible for the “hacks”?
Zoom has been around since 2011, but many people discovered it for the first time as the novel coronavirus made social distancing a requirement and online meetings became more common.
But the company’s privacy and security isn’t up to par and hackers had a field day disrupting meetings with threats, homophobic and racist messages or by showing pornographic images, according to The Associated Press:
And that’s just to name a few.
On a newly created page on Skype’s website, Microsoft is promoting Skype’s features, which are similar to Zoom’s with better security.

3) For a man now apparently worth $17.7b, Wikipedia doesn’t seem to know - or want to reveal - much of Eric Yuan’s basic biography, his date of birth of even the name of his wife. Vagueness about his past, with a typical rags-t—riches narrative (dreaming of leaving China, refused US visa 8 times etc) might suggest a fabricated or sheep-dipped person.

4) Great sense of timing - In 2019, Zoom became a public company via an initial public offering, at which time Yuan became a billionaire. His wealth has increased during COVID-19 pandemic, as Zoom has benefited from the shift to online work and teaching.
The 50-year-old billionaire's net worth jumped 396.5% to $17.7 billion in 2020 so far, as the rest of the world suffers through an economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

5) In April 2020, Citizen Lab warned that having much of Zoom's research and development in China could "open up Zoom to pressure from Chinese authorities." In June 2020, Zoom was criticized for closing multiple accounts of U.S. and Hong-Kong based groups, including that of Zhou Fengsuo and two other human rights activists, who were commemorating the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. The accounts were later re-opened, with the company stating that in the future it "will have a new process for handling similar situations."
Zoom responded that it has to "comply with local laws," even "the laws of governments opposed to free speech." Zoom subsequently admitted to shutting down activist accounts at the request of the Chinese government.
https://citizenlab.ca/2020/04/move-fast-roll-your-own-crypto-a-quick-look-at-the-confidentiality-of-zoom-meetings/
6) Zoom initially claimed to use "end-to-end encryption" in its marketing materials, but later clarified it meant "from Zoom end point to Zoom end point" (meaning effectively between Zoom servers and Zoom clients), which The Intercept described as misleading and "dishonest".
https://theintercept.com/2020/03/31/zoom-meeting-encryption/
7) Whereas Huawei is currently mistrusted, Governments, Intelligence and various topical agencies clearly aren’t too worried about Zoom’s connections to China and the likelihood of espionage:
“Yesterday, Forbes revealed U.S. agencies handling the coronavirus response had spent a collective $1.3 million on Zoom tech in just a few days at the end of March. Not only had the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) spent hundreds of thousands on Zoom for COVID-19-related webinars and calls, but other government agencies had bought into the tech, too. That included the State Department and one organization that was the alleged victim of a major Chinese hack, the Office of Personnel Management, in a breach that saw the private data of 21 million Americans leak. The U.K. government is also a well-known user of the tool, hosting critical cabinet meetings over Zoom.”
This is Forbes though, the organisation that recently brought us the advice not to question anything we hear and warned that speaking English can spread COVID...

8) Zoom employees apparently ranked themselves happiest in US:
“Job-listing site Comparably just released its annual ranking of major U.S. companies with the happiest employees, and Zoom was ranked No. 1! The Happiest Employees 2019 list was based on anonymous employee feedback submitted to Comparably about fair pay, perks, benefits, and work environment.
The list was peppered with leading technology organizations, including Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce, with social media platform LinkedIn and retail giant Costco ranking Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. But it’s no surprise that the company whose core mission is “Delivering Happiness” is atop the list of organizations with the happiest employees.”
Judging by some of the other companies on this list, I’m not convinced this information can be fully trusted.
https://blog.zoom.us/zoom-employees-happiest/
9) Alongside other questionable billionaires, Yuan is helping to “combat the health crisis and boost the economy”:
“Billionaires like tech tycoon Bill Gates; Eric Yuan, CEO of Zoom; Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb; Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and a host of others are using their financial resources to help combat the health crisis and boost the economy.”
No further details provided here about the specifics of this valuable assistance...I would assume the article might be referring to the use of zoom technology to connect patients and doctors etc, but surely this could hardly be construed as altruistic.
https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/04/07/20/manny-villar-remains-philippines-richest-with-net-worth-at-p2829-billion-forbes
10) Not so great timing - The firm’s founder and CEO Eric Yuan has personally sold $38 million worth of shares already in 2020. He unloaded $10.5 million in January, $12.5 million in February, and $15.5 million in March, according to related SEC filings.
Strange timing. Can anyone explain why a man - and other major investors in Zoom - would do such a thing to his own company up until only days before the bonanza hit? Was he truly unaware of the goldmine awaiting him, or is this evidence of something more witting and nefarious?
https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2020/04/06/zoom-execs-sold-millions-stock-coronavirus-pumped-share-price/
Only just beginning, so there is definitely more to come here, as I delve deeper.
Please feel free to supply your own ZOOMachinations in the comments.
